JoJo's Bizarre Adventure 23 – Cars vs. Lisa Lisa

He's fabulous and he knows it.

Here it is the climax of Joseph vs. Wham! Can Joseph Joestar defeat the mighty Wham now that he has activated his Final Mode? Later in the episode, Cars finally enters the battlefield as he will face Lisa Lisa in a one on one battle!

Joseph's battle with Wham showed us that Joseph can go to the extreme just to defeat Wham. He basically showed us his ability to overturn a situation into his own advantage, and that is one skill some warriors rarely have! I will not explain how he did it, but the way he execute it made it look like he is helpless because of Wham's power, only to reveal that he actually intended to look helpless just for his plan to work. At the end, Joseph wins the battle, and now, he must destroy Wham once and for all! But instead, he showed his respect to this man.

Joseph showing his respect to Wham is one of the best scenes in this episode, heck, one of the best scenes in the entire series! If you think about it, this is one of those fights in Part II that actually has build-up, leading to the climax scene that we have right now. Ending it with two warriors gaining mutual respect to each other is one great way to wrap it up. Even though they are fighting opposite sides, there is one quality that these two have, and that is honor. Joseph didn't pity Wham when he offered his blood for him to have a slow death. He just wants to show respect to a warrior that pushed him to his limits, the same way on how Wham respected Caesar's final will.

In addition to that, Wham attacked his subordinates when they attacked Joseph in a riot because of Wham's defeat! This made me realize one thing; maybe they will become the best of friends in an alternate universe. After Joseph drinks the antidote, Wham's body turned into sand and now it is time for Cars vs. Lisa Lisa. Because Cars wants to honor Wham's death, he removes his bandana, revealing his horns and his long flowing purple hair. Yep, his hair is purple and he kinda looks too fabulous with it. After showing some more of Lisa Lisa's skill with the Ripple, it is time for the battle between these two.

The fight between Lisa Lisa and Cars is really brief. It is brief in a sense that it lasted for just a few minutes, ending with Cars stabbing Lisa Lisa in the back. To put it simply, Cars likes to fight dirty. He doesn't have this sense of honor like Wham has, he only wants is the Red Stone of Aja, and will do everything just to obtain it. He is smart, power hungry and that stab in the back basically sums up his character.

Because of Cars' unfair conduct in battle, Joseph tries his best to save his master, only to find out that he is exhausted, making his Ripple abilities weaker compared from before. Thankfully, the German soldiers and the Speedwagon Foundation arrived just in time to save the day thanks to their portable UV lights. Since we have the Germans and SPW, of course, Stroheim, Speedwagon and Smokey are there to help! Now that the problem with the vampires is solved, it is time for Joseph to save his master.

The way Cars teased Lisa Lisa in front of Joseph is clearly a sign that he wants Joseph to be seriously pissed as much as possible. Guess he wants to break Joseph in a manner that he has no hope to defeat Cars. To make it worse for him, he tied Lisa Lisa's leg in a rope and once she falls from the structure they are standing right now, her body will be in pieces, and so, Joseph save her by pulling the rope. But the bigger question is if he has any energy left to save her? While he is doing it, Smokey learned from Speedwagon that the woman Joseph is saving is Lisa Lisa, and is her mother! To be honest, I am not surprised with that twist since Lisa Lisa is on her 50's, has a picture with Speedwagon, Erina and Straits and lastly, I read the manga before watching the anime.
