That cape.
Dogold continues to be pissed with the Kyoryugers, and thus, Pteragordon begins its second rampage. Can the Kyoryugers stop a rampaging Voltasaur that is under Dogold's control? Since we are talking about Pteragordon, we learned more about KyoryuGold and his secret identity.
The earlier minutes of the episode is basically Dogold being angry to the Kyoryugers, and that he is ready to use Pteragordon's full power. We also learned bits about KyoryuGold and that he didn't become a Spirit like Ramirez. This confirms that KyoryuGold is still alive somewhere, but before we can think over it, Pteragordon begins its rampage. What interesting about it is that we saw Dogold do a "Deboss In" and insert the Beast Battery on Pteragordon. If there is one thing that their faces tell me is that it is impossible for a bad guy to do a "Brave In". I think I see how this is connected with KyoryuGold, but I guess I need more evidence before making a proper conclusion about it.
Because of Pteragordon's rampage, Amy and Souji are ordered to save people, while Stegochi and Parasagun are in-charge in trying to take Pteragordon down. To be honest, I still don't get why they need Stegochi in this one. I mean, that guy doesn't have any long range weapons! He is a freakin' robot Stegosaurus with a shield/sword for a weapon for crying out loud! As for the remaining heroes in the ground, they are fighting Dogold in the ground. The only thing that I find note-worthy in the said fight scene is the "duel" between Dogold and Torin. It's really impressive and I like it.
Now comes the fun part in this episode, Pteragordon transforming into its humanoid mecha form, the Pteraidenoh! What I like about this guy in its evil version aside from the visor is the cape. It looks cool and adds up this kind of evil aura in the machine. Too bad, the toy version of Pteragordon doesn't come with a cape for the evil Pteraidenoh. The mecha fight in this episode is interesting. Aside from the fact that there is no actual restriction for the arm swapping gimmick, giving us the Kyoryuzin Parasagun + Stegochi, Pteraidenoh is impressive in its first fight.
Even if Pteraidenoh is impressive in its first fight, King ended up stealing the spotlight at the end of the fight. I mean, he doesn't look like the kind of guy that can think of a great game plan! Thanks to this game plan, they were able to defeat Pteraidenoh, and to some extent, made a large crack in Dogold's face, revealing a human face. So yeah, if you tie up the stuff that was foreshadowed earlier in the episode, it is safe to conclude that Dogold is KyoryuGold. But the question is, how the heck he ended up becoming Dogold if Torin has a long history fighting him?
Thankfully, we have a flashback scene to explain everything. To put it simply, Dogold already exist before KyoryuGold became Dogold, and to make it more interesting, KyoryuGold is a samurai during the Warring States, which confirms the "long history" with Dogold that Torin is talking about. The flashback scene showed us three things for those people who still haven't figure it out. Dogold's personality during that time sounds like he is some sly and suave warrior, KyoryuGold is one angry dude after learning that Dogold killed his friends, and lastly, Dogold and Gold entered some dark dimension. To sum it up, KyoryuGold became Dogold inside that dimension.
Back to Dogold, he is starting to wonder his motivation; on why he is angry. But that is not what is important here, Amy and Souji were kidnapped by one of Chaos' strongest soldiers! And so, our heroes must rescue them... but not now. This is what I like about the Kyoryuger team, King's trust and confidence to his teammates in a manner that he doesn't care if they were kidnapped. He is confident that his teammates are strong enough to escape the enemy's clutches.
While his teammates are busy fighting Chaos' strongest soldier, King is fighting Dogold. What's great about King and Dogold's fight is dual wielding the Parasa Shot and the Gabutyra Fang. We also saw that he can combine the two weapons to create the Fang Shot. Though Fang Shot is one good looking weapon, I just hate the fact that they need to use some crappy looking green screen background and not just go with the "on location" background. But hey, at least it made a really large crack in Dogold's face, revealing KyoryuGold's human face.
We learned that his name is Utsusemimaru, and learned that Dogold is actually a sentient armor. The sudden change of speech pattern made it more obvious that the Dogold that Torin and Utsusemimaru fought years ago, and the Dogold that the modern day Kyoryugers fought are two different characters. So yeah, modern day Dogold is like Gaoranger's Rouki, except that they immediately introduce his human identity immediately and not foreshadow it from time to time, and to be honest, it gives me a really bad impression that they want to introduce the sixth hero as early as possible to introduce more toys later in the series.
I mean, dropping this kind of interesting plot of being human and that the face that our heroes saw is just a mask can lead to a lot of interesting drama for the show, making the big reveal more dramatic. Even if the introduction of Utsusemimaru doesn't leave much impact to me, but how they lured him to his demise to become Dogold is really great. I just love how Chaos and Dogold planned it from the very beginning. They want Utsusemimaru to be as angry as possible so that Dogold can easily control him, and he succeeded. I think how know this arc will end if that is the basis of Dogold's control.
