Oreimo S2 01 – My Little Sister Can't Come Back Home Again

She is back~!

Kirino is back after three months staying in America. So what's next after this? As for Kyosuke, he is kinda bothered on what happened last week when Kuroneko kissed him in the cheek. So the question is what is the true score between these two?

For starters, there are a couple of things I need to talk about before talking about the actual episode. First is that the second season is now made by a different studio due to time issues with the original studio. Considering that the promos barely reveal anything new, I expected that the second season is just a rehash of the first season. Much to my surprise, the second season is actually a continuation of the first season, to be more specific, it continues starting from the last episode of the True Route. Second is the art style, thankfully they remained consistent about it after the studio change.

Now that I am done talking about the technical stuff about the second season, it is time to talk about the episode. The opening flashback gives us an idea that the two actually are close back when they are still kids that they even take a bath together. Aside from that, we also learned that Kirino is not naturally blonde, her hair is actually brown and she just dyed it years later. Well I guess that makes sense since their mom's hair is brown.

After that flashback, we return to the present and learned that it's been a year since the first time Kirino asked life advice from Kyosuke. What's interesting about it is that Kyosuke is like expecting Kirino to ask him something every time they are together! He is so used to it that he still forgets the fact that they are not supposed to be that close. As for Kirino, she is busy calling her friends, and later in the episode, she is busy fixing some stuff related to school and work. So yeah, Kirino is busy this entire week. Well I guess it makes sense why Kirino is ignoring Kyosuke.

In school, Kyosuke is having problems with Kuroneko about their real school, leading to very awkward moments when they are together. It's kinda funny seeing Kyosuke being a bit delusion during one time he is alone and thinks that Kuroneko has true feelings for him. And before Kyosuke can ask Kuroneko directly about her true feelings for him, Sena appears and starts talking how everybody loves their game. Seriously, she doesn't know how to make a proper entrance. I mean, we will finally know the true score between these two, and she suddenly appeared out of nowhere and starts talking about their game! Dang it.

What's more, Kyosuke didn't attend the club the next day for some reason. Guess it is kinda awkward sitting beside Kuroneko now that the two made this kind of emotional connection that is still quite unclear for now. And the next day, Kirino finally asked Kyosuke for some life advice, but it turns out to be Kirino's excuse to have someone to carry stuff for her. For the rest of the episode, it is about Kirino geeking out now that she is back in Akihabara. Nothing much to talk to aside that Kirino is now back to her true self. At the end, Kirino is still an otaku and that she bought too much thanks to the royalties given by the publisher of her light novel. My friends, this is a true otaku. She knows how to give back to the industry by buying merchandise that she loves.
