That Nossan in a suit.
Nossan is with his sister and niece thanks to an amusement park trip, but because of this week's MOTW, this amusement park trip suddenly turned into an abuse-ment park trip! Can Nossan save his sister from the illusion created by the MOTW?
I am one of those people who loves Nossan's old man jokes because of its wit, and that is why this is one of the episodes I can't wait to see, and boy, I am not disappointed with it. Aside from the buildup they are doing for KyoryuGold, what I love about this episode it expanded Nossan's family. When I learned that Yuko, Nossan's sister is a single parent, I was wondering about the fate of his husband, that is if she had one. Learning that Yuko was married to a guy named Kenichi and that he died during one of his jobs, gave us a better idea on why she is a single mom and how they were able to pay the household bills.
Because of Kenichi's death, it is obvious that Yuko misses her dead husband that is why she is easily affected by the illusion created by the MOTW. This is also around the time I noticed the theme of this episode. This episode is more than just about Nossan telling old man jokes, it is about acceptance that dead will stay dead, but their memory will remain in our hearts in a certain form. In the case of Yuko and her family, it is in the form of her husband's odd jobs business that Nossan decided to help.
Aside from remembering the dead, this episode is also about cherishing their memories, and moving on in life. In the earlier scenes in this episode, Yuko tries to convince her brother to act as his husband so that they can enter the amusement park rides with no problems, but Nossan resisted. Even though Nossan kinda acts like a father figure to Rika, he is and will always be Rika's uncle and not his father. Rika is well aware of it. As seen in this episode, she is not affected by the MOTW's illusion, she knows that her father is dead, and she knows that she must accept his death and move on with her life.
Now that I am done with the emotional stuff of this episode, it's time to talk about the old man jokes! To sum up my thoughts, I laugh at all of those jokes... less the joke that has something to do with a river. I still don't get it. Anyway, it is all thanks to those jokes that Yuko realized that she is in an illusion created by the bad guys because, believe it or not, her husband laughs at his brother's old man jokes! Now that's been settled, it's time to end the MOTW's illusion and the barrier he set up, with a little help coming from Rika, Ian and Souji.
Since everybody is free from the illusions, for the first time, Yuko accepted KyoryuBlue as a hero even though she hated her at first... that is until he starts saying an old man joke. Dang it, Nossan! It is then followed by some fight scenes, the MOTW is the last man standing and it is time to finish him. What better way to finish this monster is of course, by making him laugh! Seriously, the joke is so bland for the MOTW that he is forced to laugh thanks to Igeranodon's ability to tickle its opponents, causing them to laugh.
Finally, the giant battle, the biggest surprise in this one is the appearance of Pteragordon, and after much confusion, our heroes decide to take it out of Deboss' control. Even though they weren't able to manage to take Pteragordon back, we had an idea about its power; it's so strong that it is the one who destroyed the MOTW, and not Kyoryuzin Western. At the end, the Pteragordon's Deboss Beast Battery died out, and it is now back in Dogold's hand, which he will likely charge using his own electricity.
Even if the story for Pteragordon is left hanging for the next episode, at least it ended well for Nossan. His sister accepts his KyoryuBlue secret identity, less the gags. And her sister will now see her not as Kenichi's replacement for Rika's father, but as her uncle. Before ending this review, there are some things I missed about the other Kyoryugers. First is that I noticed a major improvement with Ian and Souji's teamwork, and second is that the team is not lively without Nossan. Without Nossan, the other four Kyoryugers will just sit, and stay silent till the next Deboss attack. To put it simply, Nossan is the life of the party.
