Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters 50 – Eternal Bonds

That opening sequence callback.

The final battle in Hyperspace begins, and we finally know Jin's plan to remove the card out of Hiromu's body. What is this plan? Can the Go-Busters finally end Enter, and to some extent, Vaglass once and for all?

The short scuffle between Hiromu and Yoko with Enter revealed a couple of things about Enter's ability to duplicate data. As it turns out, whatever Hiromu sees, he can copy it. In this case, he knows how to perform Yoko's Rabbit Kick. This revelation added the difficulty of the situation of our heroes for a bit. I mean, if Enter can copy the data on whatever Hiromu sees, this means that he has the knowledge on how to pilot CB-01 Ace, Ryuji's strength and likely, his Gorillarge Punch. Though it sounds neat in paper, it feels like they weren't able to expand this much in just a short span of time.

The two were able to escape thanks to Ryuji distracting Enter by shooting the mountain just to put Enter out of commission even just a few minutes. But before talking about what happened inside Jin's hangar, I can't help but notice the new Hyperspace. I guess Jin's original 5 minute solution to counter the effects of Hyperspace, which they used as "plot convenience" in the first finale, is possibly, one of the reasons why Hyperspace becomes unstable, same goes with the explosions that happened during that time.

In Jin's hangar, we learned that his plan is basically using his original body to remove the card in Hiromu's body. To put it simply, he will use the data of Jin's card, which is backed up on the #13 Messiah Card in their own advantage. The idea is smart, but the thing is, can Jin's body handle it? That is one of the reasons why J and later, the rest of the team are worried about. Considering his current state, his body can't handle it and it will cause his permanent death. This caused our heroes to be worried about Jin's state; they don't want Jin to die because of Hiromu.

The scene that followed it made me tear up a bit, it's depressing it hurts. If you consider what happened in the previous episode, Ryuji has the guts to kill Hiromu if he needs to do it. This scene showed us that maybe, it is just all talk. He doesn't have the guts to let his mentor die. Same with the rest of the team, Jin made a lot of impact on them as he acted like that crazy older brother to them. You can even say that he is sometimes their father figure if a certain scenario demands it. The scene made me realize a couple of things that sometimes, even heroes will have second thoughts in doing the right thing.

Jin's speech made me realize that heroes need to stand up to do the right thing, the same lesson they themselves realized in the previous episode, only this time around, someone that acted like their hope during the time they are not aware if their parents are still alive needs to die just for the sake of someone to live. His speech also showed us that we shouldn't ignore the sacrifice made by others just for us to be where we are right now. These lessons are some of the things I can't believe a kid's show will tell us.

The clincher is something that J said weeks ago in regards to Jin's data, that the world is incredible. It is something that J wanted Jin to see after 13 years of him being stuck in Hyperspace. This made me realize one thing, there is one aspect in the series that they haven't explored, what is running on Jin's mind during the time he is in Hyperspace before he had a chance to develop his avatar. Did he become mad or did he become a better person? Did his stay in Hyperspace made him realize the beauty of our planet? Those things are some things I wish the series explored even in just one episode.

Now that Jin is done with his speech, Hiromu finally agrees that this is the only way to save everyone aside from killing himself, which Enter can just prevent any time he wants to. Speaking of Enter, he finally arrives in Jin's hangar and the three Busters will stop him while Jin and Hiromu are busy with removing the card out of Hiromu's body. The fight choreography is amazing in this one, and while this is happening, the data transfer begins and finally, they were able to remove the card out of Hiromu's body, causing the permanent end to Jin's body, and the 13th Messiah Card. This affected both Enter and Jin's body as Jin's avatar can only handle it for only a couple of minutes and Enter's body cannot regenerate again now that his back-up is destroyed.

This is leads us to the final battle of Enter and the Go-Busters, and the final transformation of our heroes. The final transformation scene is really great, the scene by scene transformation of each Buster is well done but this is not yet the final roll call of the series. The giant battle in this episode is really something, aside that they remembered Great Go-Busters' Hyperspace capabilities, we saw that its capabilities is not enough to stop Enter's Megazord as it was able to pin Great Go-Buster in a mountain. Thankfully, Tategami Li-Oh arrived just in time to aid them in battle.

After canceling the combination, Ace fights the enemy Megazord not by power, but with speed. I was stunned when Hiromu pulled that kind of move on Ace. What made it more epic is that he is the first one who did the first move to defeat Enter's Megazord! This show sure knows how to handle its robots! But the ones who did the final touches of the finisher is the Go-Buster Li-Oh and the Buster Hercules' respective finishers. Now that they are done with the mecha fight, it is time for the final roll call and the final battle with Enter.

The final roll call is not that epic like last year, but I guess they did the job of showing us that this is the final battle. The final fight against Enter is seriously good, not just the fight choreography, but the dialogue that comes with it. Hiromu and Enter's final exchange showed us the lesson of this series, all of us have imperfections, but if we have someone who will support us, in this case, our friends, we can overcome these imperfections. This is when the vaccine program having weak points made sense; their parents wanted them to realize the importance of someone who will support them. They were able to foreshadow this bit with Hiromu realizing that his weak point might be the cause of him not wanting other people's help.

At the end, it not a Lio Blaster blast that finished Enter, but a Volcanick All Busters Attack, a variation of the Volcanick Attack with support coming from the other four Busters. The final clash between Enter and the Go-Busters is really great, granted it's just pure CGI but the thought that for once, the team has this proper team finisher is something. It showed us that a team move is better than a move made me a single person.

Enter's final words is quite something, "C'est la vie" which translates as "Such is life" before saying his farewell to the Go-Busters. Enter left us with style, before screaming his death. Now that they are done with it, it seems that they will spend their last days in Hyperspace that is until Hiromu's dad and Jin to stand up and leave Hyperspace, which they did.

Back in our world, Enter's cocoons are destroyed and that the humans it absorb are now out and that they are informed by Hiromu that they are back. Guess the clincher of this scene is Commander Kuroki seeing Jin's "spirit" biding his final farewell in our world. Guess this means that he is the only one remaining from the original crew who studied the concept of transport 13 years ago. The return of the Go-Busters in our world is a direct callback to the show's first opening sequence with some minor changes, like Tategami Li-Oh and J.

This is then followed by an epilogue scene that is likely to take place 3 years after the end of the series as Yoko is already a high school graduate and our heroes celebrate her graduation. We learned a couple of things about our heroes, like Ryuji is now working for EMC as an engineer and Hiromu still lives with her sister. This made me wonder if Hiromu has a job outside of being a Buster. As for J, he is taking care of the world that Jin left but based on his final scene in the series, it seems that he really misses Jin.

Lastly, the final scene of the series is a direct callback to the first thing Hiromu saw before leaving his sister to finally join the Go-Busters. This puts the series into full circle and I really like it. At the end, I can't believe that the series is finally over, I have a great time watching the series, the mecha fights, the story and the changes that the show went just to please the audience and the sponsors is quite something and that the end, they were able to pull it through and end the show to the spirit of how it started. All I can say is that I will miss this professional team of heroes. Adieu, Go-Busters!
