Ninja Sentai Kakuranger 06 – The Yokai Prince & the Ninja Princess

 Why is she so adorable~?

In this episode, Tsuruhime is being visited by a prince and receive jewelry coming from him. As it turns out, this has something to do with the pair of Yokai that we met in the previous episode! Can Tsuruhime figure this out? Also, can the Kakurangers stop the Yokai duo?

When we were first introduced to Tsuruhime, we have this impression that she is one tough female leader. As the series progressed, we saw more of her fun side, that she is still a teenager by heart. This episode showed us more of this aspect in Tsuruhime that aside from being a ninja and the leader of the Kakurangers, she is still a girl who often has dreams about a prince and his white horse. This is the aspect that the Yokai duo took advantage on. Placing Tsuruhime in an illusion of meeting a prince is brilliant and for once, we saw her as a girl and not as a ninja.

The next day, she wakes up wearing the gift she received coming from the prince. As expected, she ignored it that is until she received jewelry in the same kind of dream she had the other day. While she is enjoying her sweet time with this prince, the Kakurangers already figured out what's going on, to be exact, the first one who saw Tsuruhime and her sleep walking is Jiraiya. As expected, they fight the Yokai from the previous episode whose only purpose in this episode is to serve as a distraction while his partner is busy picking Tsuruhime up! As it turns out, this Yokai is the prince that Tsuruhime is dreaming on! So much for a handsome prince!

The next day, we finally learned what these jewels are and who this prince is. To sum it up, the jewels she is wearing are stolen by the Yokai so that they can give something to her! For a bunch of demons, they can just make their own jewels, kinda like the ones they did with the potatoes earlier in the episode as they transformed it into money to pay for the jewels. Wait a minute that magic only lasted for a few minutes. Guess it makes sense that they buy jewelry with potatoes than turn potatoes into jewelry.

While Sasuke and Jiraiya are returning the jewels, Tsuruhime once again fall victim to the Yokai's spell. Aside from yet another dance scene, it is then followed by the Yokai Prince to sign up a marriage contract! I am not sure why is this part of the Yokai's plan to defeat the Kakurangers, but I guess once Tsuruhime is married, she will have a hard time leading the Kakurangers because of her married life and stuff related to it. Now that she signed the marriage contract, the Yokai finally reveals her true form! Instead of becoming happy about it, Tsuruhime demands divorce!

Now comes the fun part in this episode, the Yokai Court! Since this is a court led by demons, it is expected that these guys will not judge fairly. At the end of this really brief trial, Tsuruhime is punished by the Fried Eye penalty! Thankfully, Tsuruhime was able to record what's happening thanks to her fallen Doron Changer, causing her teammates to find the location of this Yokai Court. What's more, her teammates arrived just in time to save her from the punishment!

Now that the Kakurangers are complete, it is time for more comic book text action and Tsuruhime leading the team roll call! The action in this episode is fantastic as always but the main highlight is with Tsuruhime. This is the first time she displayed her Kakure Ninpo: Dance of the Cranes technique that defeated the Yokai from the previous episode before she summoned the Shark Machines in battle. The biggest surprise is the Shark Machines as it turns out that they can combine to form the team cannon (?) the Shark Driver!

They were able to defeat the Yokai from the previous episode for good, which is then followed by the giant battle as his friend is about to avenge his death. Though it is quite brief, it's nice seeing White Kark in battle even once in a while before they will proceed to form Muteki Shogun. After doing a Petal Dance technique and beat the Yokai, it seems that the Kakurangers decided to annoy Tsuruhime! It didn't help that Jiraiya is the one who annoyed her!

I am not sure if Jiraiya is being sincere when he said in English that he loves Princess Tsuruhime, but I guess he just laughed because he said such awkward line in front of his Japanese friends who barely understood any English... who thinks that Jiraiya only said some English word for annoy or something like that. At the end, the battle with the Yokai is far from over as there are a lot more Yokai not featured in the show's ending sequence that needs to be defeated.
