Tensou Sentai Goseiger 10 – The Right Thing to Do

Yep, this is a Hyde episode.

Because of the reappearance of Crisolar, Hyde wants revenge for the death of his partner, Magis. But Master Head reminds him to do the right thing, and as he suggest, it is not revenge. What is the right thing Master Head is talking about?

As what the episode title suggest, this episode has something to do with Hyde's partner, even though he only appeared for like 5-6 minutes in this episode, you can feel his presence. You can feel that he made a major impact in Hyde's life that he is ready to avenge him, or how I see it, obsessed to avenge the death of his partner. Because of this obsession, he can't see the right thing to do, want is on his mind right now is to kill Crisolar with his own hands and that's it.

The flashback as told by Master Head with narration coming from Hyde showed us his death. To put it simply, this flashback explains that there are two Guardian Angels per tribe and that Hyde is the only survivor of the Seaick tribe that is stuck in our planet. His partner, Magis aka GoseiGreen died in the hands of Crisolar as he protects his partner. If I will base it on that scene alone, they are the best of friends that for some reason, they are more are like brothers than friends. This explains why he is this obsess to avenge his friend.

What's interesting about his partner is that Magis' actor once played Senichi "Sen-chan" Enari aka DekaGreen of the Dekaranger! Aside from the direct color reference, what's interesting about Magis' costume is that we don't see what his animal is. Unlike Hyde's jacket that featured a shark, Magis' jacket only featured the Seaick tribe logo. Checking the distant shot of Magis' death, I can't help but notice but the GoseiGreen suit is basically a digital recoloring of the GoseiBlue suit. It makes sense since the suit was used for like, 2-3 seconds in this episode.

After learning about Magis' death, the other Goseigers want Hyde to realize that there is more to life than revenge. But Agri stopped them, for reasons that it is best for Hyde to figure this on his own. I mean, he is the smart guy, he can figure out what is the right thing to do right? That's what I thought at first. The next day, his obsession for revenge gets him as he uses Datas' data in locating Crisolar's location, causing Datas to crash. Wow, I can't believe that for a giant computer robot, he can actually experience data overload.

While he is busy forcing Datas to work again, we meet Professor Sakanakun, Professor Amachi's friend who is an ichthyologist, which for kids basically means a scientist who studies fish. His scene with Professor Amachi is quite painful to watch and the only downside in this episode that I can see. It is basically two guys talking about their favorite thing in their respective field. But overall, these two are really great friends even though they like different things. So how does Hyde get into this? Simple, Professor Sakanakun needs the satellite data coming from his friend because of some strange phenomenon in the sea.

Since we are talking about strange sea phenomenon, Hyde suddenly becomes interested about it and with Alata's encouragement; he joins the professor in studying this strange phenomenon in his laboratory. What's intriguing is that Alata actually trust Professor Sakanakun that he can do something about the revenge driven Hyde. Guess he noticed that there is something special about him that until now, I still can't figure out what it is.

While Hyde is with the professor, the rest fights Crisolar who is busy heating up the seas. To sum up what happened, they were badly beaten by the MOTW with his sun-based moves. While this is all happening, Professor Sakanakun is busy talking about sea and why protecting its balance is the most important thing. Though his lecture kinda sounds like a rant coming from a scientist who wears some cute fish hat, this rant made Hyde realize what is more important, what is the right thing to do. The right thing to do is to protect the sea and the planet in general. After figuring this out, Hyde leaves and much to my surprise, the professor called him an angel.

With the calm and calculated Hyde back, they were able to defeat the MOTW with ease. As for the mecha fight, it's kinda interesting for the reason that it takes place on some seashore and that I love the effort they put in the sea to make it realistic. As for Crisolar's move in this one, since he is heating GoseiGreat, it makes sense that they went with Seaick GoseiGreat in this one, which at the end, defeated the MOTW for good. Now that we are done with Hyde's issues about the death of his partner, he made another promise to his partner Magis, to protect the planet with his four other partners.
