Kamen Rider Wizard 43 – Discovering Koyomi's Past

The Gate has finally meet Koyomi, who claims that she is the girl that he met 10 years ago in a lake. Problem is, Koyomi doesn't remember anything meeting an old man in the lake or even went to a lake! Can Koyomi remember bits of her past? Meanwhile, Kousuke and co. finally meet the White Wizard in one familiar place.

If there is one thing this episode pointed out is the fact that Koyomi might be human after all and that she is not a doll from the very beginning. Considering that someone remembered her in the past, and then it means that there might be more people who know her as a kid. Thus, it gives us hope in uncovering Koyomi's true origins. What I like about this is that Gate decides to cooperate when it comes to Koyomi's past and that he will try to help Koyomi remember more of her past. Well that's a good start at least.

Meanwhile, Kousuke and co. finally meet the White Wizard in a place best known as Wiseman's hideout. What's interesting about it is Sora's appearance and saying that it already answered one of his questions. Based on his reaction, it is really safe to assume right now that the White Wizard and Wiseman is the same person. But the bigger question left right now is why he needs to create Phantoms and how is this connected to his plan that required 5 wizards.

Anyway, Kousuke fights the White Wizard and that fight is really great. Beast Hyper in battle is really great and it really looks like the two wizards are quite even in battle. Heck, there is one point in the battle that the White Wizard is overwhelmed by Beast Hyper's Saber Strike move! To make the fight more interesting, Mayu is starting to doubt the White Wizard for a bit that she wants to help Kousuke. I repeat, she just wants to help him because by the looks of it, she still remembered the day where her life was saved by the White Wizard and trained her to become a wizard. Even if that is the case, she still manages to help Kousuke by stopping the fight.

Now that the fight is over, Kousuke and co. finds Agent Kizaki lying around and we later found out that he is in a coma. Considering the one who is responsible to the attack is the White Wizard, I guess that this will be one long coma. Back to Koyomi, she decides to learn more about her past by going to the lake where the Gate claims that she first met her. When they arrived in the place, we then have a flashback scene showing us a younger Koyomi.

The younger Koyomi is quite bubbly, she is someone who is quite energetic and I understand why this young Koyomi gave hope to the Gate. What's interesting with those scenes is that the Gate didn't have the chance to hold Koyomi's hand, she just dropped the ring and the Gate just picked it up back then. When you think about it, we don't know when Koyomi started becoming a doll. Considering that she first appeared with the White Wizard, I guess it starts to make sense why she doesn't remember a thing about her past.

After the flashback, it is followed with one good emotional scene and I like the message of this scene. Even if we don't know about our past, what's more important is the present and later, our future. It's a touching scene but only for it to be interrupted by the appearance of the Phantom. As expected, the Phantom destroyed the ring and it is time for the final fight in this episode. I love that Haruto is the one who fights the Phantom inside the Gate while Kousuke will fight the Phantom in the field. It feels right because it showed us that they are quite concerned about Kousuke's life.

The Phantom fight inside the Gate is really great. The CGI looks amazing and I just love that WizarDragon basically merged with Wizard to form Wizard Flame Dragon. The best thing about this scene is the finisher of the battle, Wizard used the All Dragon form to defeat the Phantom. Back to Beast, the fight is not worth talking about. Oh well, at least he got his dinner.

Back to Haruto, he finally discovered one important part of the plot, Koyomi is more than connected to the White Wizard; she is White Wizard's daughter! I just love that they kinda expanded with the concept of the Underworld that it doesn't stay stationary for a long time, that it continues on moving depending on the memories of the Gate. The fact that the scene felt like it was taken in the Gate's perspective is also a plus. Haruto returns to our world, still shocked with his discovery. Will he tell Koyomi or not?
