Nintendo announced via Kotaku the latest member of the Nintendo 3DS family! The Nintendo 2DS is basically your average 3DS without the 3D and perfect for entry level gamers.
Just like its predecessors, it has two screens that are the same size as those of the original 3DS and still retain the same features of the original 3DS. The system is also compatible with all DS and 3DS games, giving gamers a wider access to a vast number of titles.
Unlike the 3DS and its predecessors, the 2DS doesn't feature the clamshell design, instead it features a slate design. Even if that is the case, just like the 3DS, it uses a rechargeable internal battery and a stylus the same size like that of a 3DS XL.
The Nintendo 2DS will be available starting on October 12 in North America, just time for the release of the new Pokemon games. The 2DS costs $129.99, cheaper than a 3DS and 3DS XL. Lastly, a European release of this handheld is also planned, plans for a release in Japan is still unknown.
