Kamen Rider Wizard 45 – Father & Child

The plane is under the hands of a toy collector who kinda neglects his son and is not doing his father duties. Speaking of fathers, the episode kinda makes us wonder what kind of father Fueki is to Koyomi.

Aside from the mystery behind Fueki and why he left Koyomi to a guy he barely knew, the episode feels more focus on father and child relationships. Compared to the previous episode, which feels like it was made so that it can lead us to this episode, this episode is more solid when it comes to plot and character development, especially with the Gate. I mean, unlike most Gate of the arc whose character is developed thanks to one central character, his development comes from observing what's happening around him, making him realize that there are things far more important than his son's memento.

Speaking of the son's memento, it is also the catalyst when it comes to the character development of two side characters in this episode, namely the toy collector and his son who wants his father's affection. To be honest, this subplot is far more interesting than Koyomi's body cracking up. It's far more engaging and makes you care for the kid. I mean, the Koyomi plot of this episode was just there and it only advanced for a bit. By a bit, I mean the usual methods of fixing Koyomi is not working. It's like they are holding this back for another episode even though this is the problem left hanging in the previous episode!

Now for the fun bits in this episode since I am done talking about the plot, the Medusa vs. Mage fight in this episode is fun to watch. What I like about this is shows us how strong Mayu is without Haruto or Kousuke's help. As it turns out, she is not strong enough to defeat Medusa. With that in mind and after seeing the preview for the next episode, I guess the next episode will be focused on how to make Mayu stronger and with that in mind; I can't wait to see it happen.

The rest of the fight scenes in this episode less the Medusa vs. Mage and the final fight scene felt a bit average. As for the final fight in this episode, it is really great. Aside from being creative when it comes to the use of the PlaMonsters and the finisher Wizard used in this episode and with that in mind, it made the final fight interesting. Seriously, the only reason why the fights are interesting in the show right now are the good use of the show's gimmicks. At the end of the episode, the plot concerning Koyomi's body breaking down was never resolved and it seems Sora finally figured out Wiseman's true plan. But the bigger question is what is the plan?
