The title of the show literally means "Island of Red Spider Lillies" is based on a manga created by Koji Matsumoto. The story is about Akira (Shiraishi), returning to his hometown during his summer break only to find out that his brother, Atsushi (Suzuki) and her fiance are missing.
Akira decides to meet some of his friends, and ends up meeting a mysterious woman named Rei. She told Akira that her brother is fighting vampires in the village where she lives. After discovering that vampires are real, Akira and his friends decide to head out to island Higanjima to save Atsushi.
