Choudenshi Bioman 16 – Jun, Farrah & An Explosive

Badass? Badass.

Jun is on a mission to investigate Mt. Koji because of some weird Gear activity but she ended up delivering a gift to a teacher... who ends up getting kidnapped by Gear! Little did she know that in that mountain is a strong explosive that can destroy Japan! Can she deliver the gift and have time just to stop the explosive?

Because the episode featured a powerful explosive, they have this clock appear every 3-5 minutes during the run of the episode. It's a really nice touch and adds this sense of danger even though Jun is not aware of the danger that lies ahead. To add up the danger, Gear set up an interesting distraction so that our heroes will have little time left before they can stop the timed explosive. The said distraction has something to do with a town doctor leaving the village clinic located in Mt. Koji.

When I first saw the town doctor, the first thing I notice is her facial structure; it looks really familiar, very familiar to be exact. Then I started to notice something, the doctor looks like Farrah! When you think about it, it kinda makes sense if this is the distraction Doctor Man is talking about. I mean, she left the village clinic without telling anyone the same time as the timed explosive will explode any hour now. So yeah, the distraction is basically Jun chasing Farrah in disguise while some Mecha Humans are acting like they are trying to kidnap her.

The plan worked and Jun is on a wild chase just to give the former village doctor a gift coming from the kids that she befriended during her stay in the said village. Thanks to this plan, we saw more of Jun being a badass. Seriously, she is the only person I know who I know that rides her motorcycle and shooting some bad guys with her bow and arrow! That act alone shows us how badass she is and what made it more awesome is that she even punched a couple of foot soldiers while we are at it.

Finally, she caught up with Farrah and saw more of her badassery. Aside from how Jun showed some creativity with the use of the bow and arrow, I can't help but notice that they are trying to recreate Mika's rivalry with Farrah and her team. It makes sense because she is Mika's successor but it doesn't feel right in my opinion, it's like she is continuing what her predecessor failed to stop and makes her more and more like Mika and not be her own character. Hopefully, the writers will add some new dynamic in this rivalry and not just continue what was left hanging.

After Farrah revealed that she is the village doctor, I still find it weird that she decided to befriend the kids in the village. I know it's just me nitpicking, but how the heck Farrah predicted that the kids will give her a gift if she will leave town? But what the heck, at least this plan showed us how badass Jun is. Psygorn appears and makes matters a bit complicated. Well, just a bit complicated because of his psychic powers gave Jun some problems. Thankfully, her team arrived just in time to save her and it is time for the team battle in this episode.

The team battle is quite fine and showed us more of Jun's archery skills in battle and how she integrated her Bioman abilities in her fight. The team defeated Psygorn and once again, proving to us that the Beastnoids needs to be replaced because this is the nth time they beat this guy with a team finisher. Our heroes now rush to Mt. Koji to stop the timed explosive, only to be stopped by Neptune Kans. The giant battle is seriously quick that it lasted for at least 2-3 minutes.

Now that we are done with the giant battle, it is time to stop the timed explosive from exploding but the bigger problem is its location. I just love how they use the Biomen's individual powers just to locate the explosive. It kinda reminded me that each Bioman has their own individual skills and combining their abilities, they can do amazing things. With only one minute left, can our heroes stop the timed explosive? As expected, they stopped it but my only disappointment with their way to stop the explosive is Jun being overly dramatic with it. Oh well, at least they stop the explosive.
