Tensou Sentai Goseiger 04 – Bad Music, Good Music

Also, the debut of this guy.

In this episode, the Goseigers are busy cleaning their room when all of a sudden, Warstar attacked... with some bad rock music. Since the Skyicks are too sensitive with the air around them, they are affected by it. Can the Goseigers defeat this rock star before his music destroys the world?

The episode began with a scene that shows us the relationship between Alata and Eri. They are so close that it feels like they are more than best friends but less than lovers since Alata is fine becoming Eri's stool or every time Eri decides to change her mind when it comes to what color she wants for the plant rack that Alata is painting. Another thing that this scene showed us is that Eri knows how to sing... which will be important later in the episode.

Speaking of which, the MOTW has something to do with sound as his loud rock music can cause the listeners to faint and since the Skyicks are sensitive to sound, Alata and Eri are the ones who receive the most damage when the MOTW began his first attack. To make matters worse, when they performed the Gosei Buster, their attacked missed because of the MOTW's music! The end result, the two energetic Skyicks fainted and ends up resting in their newly cleaned room.

Even though they are greatly affected by the MOTW's attacks, Eri is still firm with her belief that they can find a way to beat the MOTW, that they can work this out somehow. The Skyicks firm belief that everything will work out is what is admirable about this tribe. They don't know when to quit, they continue to stand even in times that they are their weakest. I am not sure why people hated these two but their child-like behavior is what makes them admirable. They are the "heart" of the group when times get too tough.

But this cool moment of them showing that they are alright when all of a sudden, some arcade machine "wakes up" and introduced himself as Datas. We then learned that Master Head send him on Earth and wait for a moment that Master Head need him the most for him to activate. To put it simply, it is a method for Bandai to sell a new toy without the new toy to look a bit awkward during its introduction... or so I thought. What I like about Datas is that his name speaks for himself; he gathers data, analyzes it and finally, does a lot of cross referencing on the different conditions the current environment has to pinpoint the exact location of the MOTW. This alone is one good reason that this walking and talking arcade machine is more than just a way for Bandai to sell a new toy!

Since Datas pinpointed the exact location of the MOTW, the three Goseigers less the Skyicks head to the scene. Much to their surprise, Datas' data analysis is correct as they see Warstar setup for the MOTW's concert. What's more, they need to face the MOTW's manager, Bladerun of the Comet! Bladerun is one amazing enemy commander, there is something in him that is different from the other Warstar heads, he looks more human compared to them and that alone is one reason to be interested with this guy.

Bladerun easily defeats the Goseigers and the MOTW finally began his concert as his music finally reached worldwide as it affected the US, France, somewhere in Africa, Egypt and China! Though it obviously looks like that those foreigners are in some green screen to make them look like they are in their respective countries, the effect of the worldwide effect of the MOTW's music is still there. Because of this widespread attack, the Skyicks want to stop the MOTW even if they are weakened by its music.

Before they can reach the MOTW's location, Alata noticed that the tulips Eri planted earlier are now fully grown. They then realized that it has something to do with Eri's singing and with that, they now have a solution to their problem with the rock star MOTW. Unlike the MOTW's song that causes destruction, Eri's song gives birth to life as it boost up the growth of cherry blossom trees while she is singing. To add up the effect, Alata used the Twistornado Card to spread Eri's song across the world. This gives us this really beautiful cherry blossom falling effect while Eri is singing.

At the end, Eri's song defeated the MOTW's rock music and ultimately, save the entire planet from bad rock music. Also, it dealt some damage, which is also a good thing. The other three Goseigers then formed the Land-Sea Buster and shoot its attack on Bladerun! Much to my surprise, its power is enough to fly Bladerun out of the scene! Alata and Eri finally transform and fight the MOTW. The fight in this episode is seriously amazing, especially the series of attacks of the five Goseigers called "Gosei Super Sonic" before finishing it off with a Gosei Buster.

Bladerun enlarges the MOTW and saw more cool Gosei Machine action as the Gosei Phoenix assisted the Gosei Dragon in battle before they formed the GoseiGreat. As for how they beat the MOTW, they beat it with music with the use of the Gosei Headders as means to create music. If there is one thing that I learned in this scene is that Alata is bad in terms of singing. Wow, for someone who is a member of a tribe in charge of the planet's air, he is so bad in singing. After this move, the GoseiGreat performed the finisher that defeats the MOTW.

At the end, Datas finally connected to Master Head but the communication is then cut off for some reason. While as for the Skyicks, they continue on what they do best, being a bunch of airheads.
