Sword Art Online 25 – The World Seed

It's finally over.

Kirito rushes to the hospital to meet Asuna, unsure if she is still in a coma or now back to the real world. Before she can meet Asuna, Sugou attacks him. Can he finally meet Asuna and what is this Seed that Kayaba gave him?

Sugou being desperate to kill Kirito is something that didn't surprise me since the guy dealt a lot of damage in ALO that affected his body in the real world. In addition to that it also means that he hates getting embarrassed in the world that he claimed that he created. Though Kirito sustained some minor injuries, he applied the skills that he learned from playing video games in the real world. This, my friends, is why video games save lives. Though he didn't kill Sugou, he at least disables and stuns the guy before meeting his girlfriend.

Now that he is done with Sugou, Kirito finally meets his girlfriend! Their reunion in the real world felt like a reunion between two lovers, something that made my heart melt. To made this scene more emotional, their SAO avatars also appear while they are kissing. Now that their problem with SAO is now over and Sugou is now arrested and that the 300 SAO players are back, most players are back to their normal lives, by normal lives, some go to work while as for Kirito and Asuna, back to school. The only thing that I can nitpick in this scene and the later scenes involving the SAO players is that they don't look malnourished.

As expected, Kirito and the other underage SAO players are now enrolled to the school made for them. According to the light novel is a place where they are testing a new type of teaching style involving technology and the SAO players are the first batch of students who will undergo to this kind of teaching. As for Kirito and Asuna, they are back in each other's arms and sorta having a date in the park. We also learned about the party for Kirito since he cleared the game for them.

At the party, it is not surprising that we see a lot of former SAO players celebrating the clearing of the game. One thing that I like about this scene is seeing the other SAO players in one scene all together. It's fun and at the same time, really nostalgic since it's been a while see we see these guys... less Agil of course. Speaking of Agil, he is the one responsible for planting the Seed of online.

Kirito then give us a briefing of what happened after the discovery of the ALO incident involving human experiments. To sum everything up, people lost confidence to the Virtual MMO industry that it led to the shutdown of ALO but thanks to the Seed, it revitalized everything since it is basically a Virtual MMO program that can create new worlds with the help of other individuals. To put this simply, Kayaba redeemed himself at the end. In other words, the Seed is his final work before he died somewhere around Japan.

Thanks to the Seed, dead Virtual MMOs such as ALO and other unnamed Virtual MMOs are back online thanks to the Seed. In addition, it inspired public and private individuals to create their own virtual worlds and yes, the world that the Seed created continues to expand. Now that we have closure on the problems the Virtual MMO industry faced, it's time to close an issue involving Suguha and Leafa, who is just sitting in Agil's cafe while the other SAO players are trying to catch up with each other.

According to my brother who happens to read the light novel, there is no time limit in terms of flight in ALO so Leafa decides to fly so high till she reached the limit of the game for some odd reason. I am not sure why Leafa decides to test her flying limits but hey, at least it added the drama when he meet Kirito's Spriggan avatar! Watching the dance between siblings is so depressing because it is sad to see someone dance to a guy who friendzoned her. After the dance, we learned that former SAO players can use their SAO avatars in ALO but Kirito decides not to use it because the mission of SAO Kirito is finally over. It's sad not seeing SAO Kirito again but I guess it's for the better.

This is when ALO Kirito asked his sister if she is willing to help him clear something now that his stats are back to its basic stats. This task is to clear the Aincrad castle that he failed to clear months ago thanks to Heathcliff. Well at least Leafa got the chance to bond more with his brother again as siblings! The series ends with the ALO avatars of the SAO players we meet flying towards Aincrad along with the ALO players Kirito and Leafa meet in the game. Also, Asuna is now playing ALO as an Undine. Guess at the end, this show is still called "Sword Art Online" after all as the show ended with the same place where it all began.

The series review of Sword Art Online will be posted tomorrow, which sums up my thoughts of the entire series and its two arcs as well as the transition of the original light novel source and the series that my brother spoiled me while we are watching the final episode of Sword Art Online.
