Kyoryuu Sentai Zyuranger 49 – The Day God Fell!

The DaiZyuJin is badly beaten and Dragon Caesar finally helps our heroes only to end up getting trashed by the DoraTalos as well. With the Guardian Beasts in a really sorry state, Bandora casts her greatest spell, banishing the DaiZyuJin and Dragon Caesar to oblivion. Without the Guardian Beasts, can the Zyurangers stop Great Satan and Bandora?

The destruction scene of the DaiZyuJin and Dragon Caesar is quite painful to watch. Seeing these two machines struggling to survive at the end reminded me a lot of the time when Bandora almost destroyed DaiZyuJin at one point of the series. Seeing this situation again, I am a bit optimistic that at the end, the DaiZyuJin and Dragon Caesar will survive in the end. What I didn't expect is that Bandora's spell didn't sink the DaiZyuJin and the Dragon Caesar, but it disintegrated them slowly. Guess Bandora learned her lesson from the last time she tried to destroy the DaiZyuJin.

The disintegration scene is well done, the use of camera tinting to give this effect of Bandora's spell added impact on the scene along with the scene where we slowly see each part of the DaiZyuJin and Dragon Caesar being eaten by some void until nothing is left to them. At the end, DaiZyuJin has no choice but to release the Zyurangers out from the cockpit to save them. For the second time, the Zyurangers witness the fall of the Guardian Beasts in the hands of Bandora. To make it worse, DaiZyuJin said that this is his end. Crap, this means that there is little chance that our heroes will beat Bandora!

The heroes are in a really sorry state, though Geki is a bit hopeful, we slowly see him lose hope later in the episode. Great Satan and DoraTalos continue their rampage in the city, what made the scene great is that the Zyurangers, though powerless, they still continue to help those who are in need. This shows that even if they don't have the Guardian Beasts, they are still the Zyurangers and it is there to protect the innocent.

After learning that Satoshi is struggling with his disease, Geki and Mei rush in to the hospital to try and comfort the kid. I expected that Geki will once again lie for the kid by telling him that King Brachion is taking care of the eggs like what he is supposed to do. But nope, the kid is aware on what happened to the King Brachion and lost his hope to live. Instead of Geki giving his usual speech about not giving hope, he just went silent and didn't say a single word. The heroes themselves have lost hope for them to defeat Bandora and her men.

Speaking of these men, Grifforzer and Lami attacked them and much to their surprise, they can't transform into the Zyurangers! Now powerless, Great Satan added more damage by doing his usual breath attacks that weakened our heroes. This is a hopeless sight to watch that it is hard for me to continue watching. But hey, the heroes will triumph at the end, right?

Back to Bandora, we finally have the extended version on her origin story. Aside that they played the same footage of Bandora's origin story again, they added a new scene not seen in the previous episode were Bandora said that she will sold her soul to the devil to avenge her son. If there is one thing I learn from different stories involving the devil, having a deal with the devil comes with a price, a really great price. In Bandora's case, she gained magic that makes her the greatest witch that ever lived but the price is that the soul of her son is now owned by the devil's and is now revived as Great Satan's evil son.

Well this explains why Cai has this funky white hairdo and why he keeps on evading his mother's hugs, he doesn't want that mushy stuff anymore! This also explains the powers he had and why he sounded more like an adult and less of a child with psychic powers. Because of this revelation, I started to pity Bandora more, she just wanted revenge to those who killed her son and just wants to see her son alive.

Back to the Zyurangers, they are struggling to survive and part of it is looking for water to drink, which sadly, doesn't exist anymore because they are all poisoned thanks to Great Satan. Once again, we see our heroes in a sorry hopeless state that Geki thinks that he is not doing a great job as a leader. To be honest, Geki and the rest of the team did their best to fight Bandora but I guess their best is not good enough to finish Bandora. What made the scene sadder is that Geki started talking about the beauty of our planet Earth is destroyed because of Great Satan and DoraTalos.

On the time they lost their hope completely, Burai appears as a ghost that gave them a new hope. Before talking about it, I first notice in Burai's reappearance are the strings found in his back. To put it simply, he is being carried in a harness or something close to that and with that, I am impressed with the production team, I have a hard time looking for those strings in her back.

This new hope that Burai is talking about is that the DaiZyuJin, Dragon Caesar and most especially, King Brachion are still alive and that they are sent to Bandora's demiplane. Well that explains the slow disintegration scene we have earlier in the episode! This explanation also made much more sense in King Brachion's fate. In my previous review, I mentioned that maybe King Brachion is getting healed thanks to the Gaiatron found underground. Considering that the DaiZyuJin and the Dragon Caesar are getting disintegrated, it means that Bandora learned her lesson that throwing in 3 mechanical dinosaurs and 2 mammals that lived during the Ice Age in a boiling pit of lava will only heal them in the long run.

Since she learned from that scenario and Bandora is someone who doesn't repeat past mistakes, it makes sense that King Brachion is just sent on the same demiplane. In short, the eggs are still alive, which also explains why the DaiZyuJin and Dragon Caesar are still alive after King Brachion was presumed dead by the Zyurangers and the rest. Our heroes decided to enter the demiplane after Burai opened the gate to that void, which is just a plain looking door that you can pass on once you walk on its back. But because this is a void, once you enter this place, there is minimal chance for someone to escape it.

After equipping the materials needed before going to the demiplane, namely Boi and Mei in charge with the rope while Geki, Goushi and Dan are going to the void with their waist attached on the rope, they are set to look for the Guardian Beasts. The first thing that I notice in the void is that it's the same filming location that they used in the episode were the Zyurangers had a quest to look for the Legendary Weapons featuring a kid that felt out of place in the episode's overall plot.

Since this is Bandora's demiplane we are talking about, expect monsters and since this is the second to the last episode, expect old monsters. These old monsters are the DoraChimera, DoraNinja, DoraMimic and the DoraMirage. Considering that they had a hard time fighting the DoraMirage and the DoraMimic and that they are powerless, I expect that they will be easily beaten by these monsters. I am right about that part but what I didn't expect is that they are the ghosts of those monsters and by the looks of it, they are just watered down versions of the original and their only advantage is that they are invulnerable to any attack.

I am quite relieved that these creatures are just watered down versions of the original but I am disappointed that they didn't retain their skills. But what the heck, this is the second to the last episode and our heroes are powerless. There is no need for them to be beaten up by these creatures in the worse possible way! Because of their attacks, Geki and Dan fell deeper into the demiplane. To make matters worse, the rope crumbled! Can Boi and Mei save the Zyurangers who are inside the demiplane? Can Goushi's hand carry the combined weight of Geki and Dan? Will this be the end of the Zyurangers? Let's find out in the epic conclusion of Kyoryuu Sentai Zyuranger!
