Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters 38 – Real Steel

Megazord fight, ready... go!

With 9 Messiah Cards are left, Jin decided to take a break by watching a MMA match... but it is postponed thanks to a Megazord attack. Ace fights the enemy Megazord only to be transported in some ring where he must face four enemy Megazords one by one! Can Hiromu and the Go-Buster Ace last in that ring?

This is one of the best of the episodes of Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters yet; it has the best robot fights in the series, great robot action and my personal favorite, great debut of the final mecha in the series, the Go-Buster King. Let's go into the details of this episode that makes this episode really superb. First is that each Megazord has their own entrance and entrance music that accompanies them ala WWE. To make it more fun, the robot battle has color commentary courtesy of some random commentator that we didn't see and Enter on ringside! This made me ask myself, am I watching the WWE, G Gundam, Medabots or Go-Busters?

Here comes the fun part in this episode, the robot battle, the first robot battle is between Ace and Alpha. The first thing I notice is that they just recycled the Alpha Megazord suit from the Forkroid episode. As for the fight, it is really amazing, we see Ace do a lariat that finished (!) the Alpha and it didn't help that the color commentary added up to the excitement of the fight!

While this is all happening, the other Go-Busters are trying to find a way to open the dome to save Hiromu only to fail a couple of times. One thing that I admire about them is that they tried everything just to open the dome. Heck, they even used the Lio Attaché just to detect the Metaroid who could be nearby that is responsible in locking the dome! Much to their disappointment, the Attaché didn't give them any proper leads since all they got is a message that it detected a Metaroid signal.

Back to the dome, Ace is now in a handicap match against the tag team of Gamma and Beta! Since this is a handicap match, obviously, the tag team does what all heel teams do, corner the Ace. But it seems that their plan back fired since Ace evaded one of their pincer attacks that lead to the destruction of the Beta Megazord. While Ace is busy with these two, the other Go-Busters seemed to have found a way to enter the dome and as expected, it foiled thanks to its security and the Delta Megazord arrived safely.

Now that Delta is inside the dome, this marked the birth of a new tag team, the Megazords of Destruction composed of Gamma and Delta! Gamma, a Muay Thai specialist and Delta, a lean, mean punching, fighting machine, can Ace stop this formidable tag team?! The tag team of Gamma and Delta is so great that they are the ones who put Ace in a corner! What's more, aside from low Enetron, it seems that Hiromu's effectiveness as a pilot is starting to wear off due to the time he spent fighting the two enemy Megazords.

To make things worse, the attack of one of the Megazords punctured a hole on the Ace, something that I didn't expect them to do in the series during this episode mark since for starters, it is around this time they will not spend much per episode! As for the pilot inside the Ace, Hiromu, his suit dealt quite damage! The first thing I notice about the damaged suit is that it is the same damage suit from the episode were Hiromu and Enter dueled before Hiromu left for Hyperspace. Another thing I notice is the heavy helmet damage that made me notice that Hiromu is wearing a face mask inside the helmet.

Because the Ace is now in a corner, Enter approached Hiromu to ask him to give up since he is aware of the end result of this match if Hiromu continues and besides, he has enough Ace battle data after he fought four different Megazords in one sitting. Instead of giving up, Hiromu continued fighting till the very end and even notes that this is lighter compared to the training he had years ago with Nick! Because of what Hiromu did in this episode, he is now one of my favorite Red heroes in this decade aside from the fact that he survived from one giant pizza cutter and knows his priorities straight.

Hiromu continues of fighting and same goes on the ones outside. After they are done cleaning all the Burglars, Ryuji suggested trying something different for the Li-Oh and that is to combine with the remaining Buster Machines to form Go-Buster King! The stock footage transformation sequence is really fine in my opinion and since they have this giant mecha, they used its lance and tried to lift the dome with it... and it worked! Because of its action, it clarified what Enetron signal did the Lio Attaché caught, it turns out that the Metaroid is the dome itself!

Now that they are done freeing the Megazords from the dome, it is time for the handicap giant battle but first; let's talk about the Go-Buster King. For a name of the ultimate robot in the series, I find the name Go-Buster King really lame since it's just a direct translation of Go-BusterOh since "oh" means "king". I mean, if they want generic final robot names, they can just go with Ultimate Go-Buster as a direct reference to Great Go-Buster or Supreme Go-Buster but nope, they just went with Go-Buster King.

The general design of the Go-Buster King is really great, though the back seems to look a bit cluttered; the front part of the mecha looks fantastic. The Go-Buster King is one of those final mecha designs that looked like it is not the final mecha in the series and I like it. The problem I had with most modern Sentai final mecha is the fact that they just threw all the individual mecha in the design without thinking if it will look bad or something, kinda like the Samurai Ha-Oh or EngineOh G12.

As for its abilities, I like that the SJ-05's horn is separated into two, turning it into twin arm blades. It's really cool to see that it has more than a single weapon in its arsenal. Aside from the twin arm blades, it also has SJ-05's gun that he use to shoot enemies. As for how he fights, it is one of those final Sentai mecha that can still move properly without the use of remote control or something to make it move and I like it. Go-Buster King's finisher called "Emission Burst" is just a multiple slash attack with the use of the lance and that's about it, it's one of those final Sentai mecha finishers that I think that is not that cool.

The giant battle in this episode is seriously fun to watch and did a first in this series since this is the first time we have a giant Metaroid who also did the commentary while he is fighting the Go-Busters! Aside from that the Ace also did a couple of wrestling moves to fight the enemy Metaroid, now you know why this episode is seriously fun to watch! The episode ends with the match moved in a different day and Hiromu doesn't want to see a ring for now thanks to his experience fighting four enemy Megazords inside the dome. Also, there is that masked wrestler that wears a chicken mask.
