Director Shinichiro Watanabe (Cowboy Bebop, Macross Plus) revealed in this year's Otakon that he will direct a new anime called "Space Dandy" at the anime studio BONES.
The anime is set far in the future where people have gone to the far reaches of the universe. Dandy is an alien hunter and the "dandiest man in space" is searching for aliens that no one has found before with his robot partner QT. Dandy also travels with an alien cat named Meow.
Watanabe said that the anime is something that shouldn't be taken seriously and it will be the first comedic TV anime series that the director will direct. In addition, the show will introduce different aliens each week.
Space Dandy premieres this January 2014.
