Actor Koji Seto (Kamen Rider Kiva) and actress Kie Kitano (Pokémon: Arceus and the Jewel of Life) will star in the live-action movie adaptation of Yomi Hirasaka's Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai (Haganai) light novel series.
Seto turned his hair blonde for the first time in this movie. He added that he felt he was destined for this film role, since he himself has hardly any friends. The original author, Hirasaka revealed that the staff wanted to make a standalone work and not simply recreate the story of the original light novel series.
The original light novel is about Kodaka (Seto), a half-Japanese/half-British transfer student whose delinquent-like blonde hair and fierce eyes scare people and a seemingly perpetually sullen girl named Yozora (Kitano). The two decide to form Rinjinbu, a club for misfits with hardly any friends.
The movie finished filming last June. Directed by Takurō Oikawa (The Game), the movie is set to open early next year.
