Live-Action The Next Generation -Patlabor- Teaser Trailer


The first teaser of Mamoru Oshii's The Next Generation -Patlabor- live-action series and film project is now online. The teaser features the main mecha of the series, the AV-98 Ingram in motion.

A sequel to the original Patlabor anime stories, it takes place in the year 2013 in Tokyo and features the third generation of Patlabor. The Tokyo Metropolitan Police has disbanded its Section 2 Division 1 of police robots, and Section 2 Division 2 barely survived the budget cuts due to the long recession.


The project begins as a seven-part series, which is composed of an episode 0 that lasts for 10 minutes and 12 full episodes directed by project's chief director Mamoru Oshii and other directors. Oshii will also direct the feature-length film that will open in Spring 2015.

Each part of the seven-part series will last for 45 minutes with the first part that is set to premiere on April 5, 2014.

Live-Action Rurouni Kenshin Film Sequels First Teaser Trailer


The first teaser trailer of the much awaited live-action Rurouni Kenshin film sequels is finally revealed. The teaser highlights the original film's popularity as well as Tatsuya Fujiwara as Makoto Shishio.


The two upcoming Rurouni Kenshin films based on the Kyoto Arc entitled "Rurouni Kenshin: The Great Kyoto Fire Arc" and "Rurouni Kenshin: The End of a Legend Arc" are both slated to have summer 2014 release.

Live-Action Rurouni Kenshin Movie Sequels: First Photo of Makoto Shishio


Before the official Warner Brothers live-action Rurouni Kenshin website unveil it, a Japanese talk show finally revealed the first image of actor Tatsuya Fujiwara as Makoto Shishio!


Makoto Shishio is the main antagonist of the Rurouni Kenshin manga/anime series' Kyoto Arc, and yes, they retained his trademark burns and bandages, which he acquired thanks to the government "disposing" him after his job is done.

The two upcoming Rurouni Kenshin films based on the Kyoto Arc entitled "Rurouni Kenshin: The Great Kyoto Fire Arc" and "Rurouni Kenshin: The End of a Legend Arc" are both slated to have summer 2014 release.

Live-Action Lupin III Film to Premiere in August 2014


A photo from the live-action Lupin III film, which features the film's last shooting day in Chendai, China has surfaced online.

Aside from the prominent foreign crew, you can clearly see Shun Oguri as the titular character Lupin III wearing Lupin's iconic red shirt and yellow necktie. It was previously reported that Oguri was spotted wearing the alternate green shirt and yellow necktie outfit.

Aside from China, the film will also film in the following locations: Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong and the Philippines. The movie began filming on October 3.

This modernized take on Monkey Punch's classic manga/anime series premieres in August 30, 2014.

Taekwondo Damashii: Rebirth Film Latest Trailer


Here's the new trailer of the upcoming Taekwondo Damashii: Rebith film, which stars Masahiro Inoue (Kamen Rider Decade), Ryoma Baba (Go-Busters) and Kyosuke Hamao (Goseiger). The trailer features the film's theme song.

This is the first taekwondo-themed film in Japan and was produced with the full cooperation of the International Taekwon-do Federation Japan (ITF-JAPAN).


This story about three brothers who are involved in a conflict over which one of them will be heir to the family taekwondo dojo. One day, they accidentally wander into a mysterious forest where they're suddenly attacked. Their only means of escape is to keep defeating enemies utilizing their taekwondo skills in order to live up to their destinies.

Also starring in the film are Kazushige Nagashima, Rina Koike, Seiran Kobayashi, and Renji Ishibashi. The movie is set for a February 15, 2014 release.

Live-Action Silver Spoon Movie Full Trailer


The official website of the live-action movie adaptation of Hiromu Arakawa's Silver Spoon manga posted the full trailer of the movie. The trailer features the film's theme song entitled "Hidamari" by YUZU.

The movie is about Yugo Hachiken (played by Kento Nakajima) who winds up attending an Agricultural high school in Hokkaido where students participate in the day-to-day operations of a dairy farm.


Hachiken is from the city and isn't accustomed to farm life. However, he eventually experiences growth as he struggles through various group training activities. Along the way, he meets new friends, which includes Equestrian Club member Aki Mikage (played by Alice Hirose).

Directed by Keisuke Yoshida (Cafe Isobe, Triangle), the movie is produced by TBS and Wilco (All About Lily Chou-Chou) and the distributor TOHO.

Silver Spoon premieres this March 7, 2014 in Japan.

Live-Acton Edge of Tomorrow (All You Need Is Kill) 1st Film Trailer


The official Warner Brothers YouTube account posted the first trailer of the live-action film adaptation of Hiroshi Sakurazaka's All You Need Is Kill manga entitled "Edge of Tomorrow". The film stars Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt.


When a military officer is killed in action, he gets stuck in a time loop and is forced to relive fatal combat over and over again. The film also stars Charlotte Riley, Kick Gurry, Bill Paxton, Kidus Henok, Tony Way, and Marianne Jean-Baptiste.

This movie is scheduled to hit theatres on June 6, 2014 in the United States and on International areas in May 30, 2014.

Live-Action Rurouni Kenshin Movie Sequels: First Photo of Misao Makimachi


The official Warner Bros. live-action Rurouni Kenshin sequel films website posted a new photo for the upcoming film, which features Misao Makimachi!

Tao Tsuchiya (Ultraman Zero, Tokyo Sonata) will play the role of the Oniwabashu ninja gang member who later accompanied Kenshin Himura when he first arrived in Kyoto. The site also teased that they will reveal more pictures in a later date.

Taekwondo Damashii: Rebirth Film Teaser Trailer

Live-Action Silver Spoon Film Theme Song Revealed


The duo YUZU will perform the theme song of the live-action Silver Spoon film. The duo is best known for contributing theme songs for Hunter x Hunter and Doraemon.

The name of the new song is "Hidamari", which is written and composed specifically for the movie according to YUZU's Koji Iwasawa who wrote it. He wrote and composed this song after reading the original manga and the film's outline.

The light acoustic sound evokes the image of the vast Hokkaido meadows, while the lyrics reflects the trials and dreams of adolescence, as well as bliss.

Silver Spoon premieres this March 7, 2014.

Live-Action Rurouni Kenshin Movie Sequels: First Photo of Aoshi & Okina


The official Warner Bros. live-action Rurouni Kenshin sequel films website posted two new photos for the upcoming film, which features Aoshi Shinomori and Okina!

Yusuke Iseya (Honey & Clover, Ashita no Joe) will play the role of Aoshi Shinomori, the head of the Oniwabanshu ninja gang. Meanwhile, Min Tanaka (The Twilight Samurai) will play the role of former Oniwabanshū leader Nenji "Okina" Kashiwazaki. The site also teased that they will reveal more pictures in a later date.

Live-Action Rurouni Kenshin Film Sequels Now Filming the Final Scene


Takeru Satoh's official website revealed that they are now filming the final scene of the live-action Rurouni Kenshin film sequels.
The site also revealed that Satoh got wounds all over his body and he is working hard, day and night filming the important last scene.

The two upcoming Rurouni Kenshin films based on the Kyoto Arc entitled "Rurouni Kenshin: The Great Kyoto Fire Arc" and "Rurouni Kenshin: The End of a Legend Arc" are both slated to have summer 2014 release.

Live-Action Lupin III Film to Feature Modernize Characters & Setting


Writer Take Yoshida a friend of director Ryuhei Kitamura (Godzilla: Final Wars, Azumi), who is directing the live-action Lupin III film told the website zakzak that the director intends to change the setting of the upcoming film.

According to Yoshida, Kitamura said the following before filming began:

There's no meaning to a live-action film adaptation if you make the setting the same. I intend to change the characters themselves to make them modern. It would be nonsense for Goemon to exist in current society wearing samurai's garb and carrying around a katana.

The live-action Lupin III film stars Shun Oguri (Detective Conan, Hana Yori Dango) as Lupin III, Meisa Kuroki (Crows Zero II) as Fujiko Mine, Tetsuji Tamayama (NANA, Casshern) as Daisuke Jigen, Gou Ayano (Rurouni Kenshin) as Goemon Ishikawa, and Tadanobu Asano (Thor) as Detective Kōichi Zenigata.

Lupin III premieres in Summer 2014.

Live-Action Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukinai Film's Full Trailer


Cinema Cafe's YouTube channel posted the full trailer of the live-action movie adaptation of Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukinai (Haganai). The trailer features the film's theme song entitled "Hitotsu Dake" by Kera Kera.


The upcoming movie is inspired by the series of romantic comedy light novels written by Yomi Hirasaka. The movie revolves around Kodaka (played by Koji Seto), a half-Japanese/half-British transfer student & Yozora (played by Kie Kitano) as the two decided to form a club for misfits with hardly any friends.

The movie is written and directed by Takuro Oikawa, the movie is set to open on February 1, 2014.

Live-Action Attack on Titan Film Adaptation Staff Revealed


The official Attack on Titan website announced that Shinji Higuchi (Neon Genesis Evangelion, Gamera) will direct the upcoming live-action film adaptation of the popular manga series.


In addition, Yuusuke Watanabe (Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods, Gantz) is writing the script. He is also working with film critic Tomohiro Machiyama and series creator Hajime Isayama for the said scripts. Isayama is also present at business meetings for the film and has offered ideas on the scripts and characters.

The casting for the series is currently underway. The filming begins in summer 2014 and is planned for a 2015 release. TOHO will produce and distribute the film.

Latest Rurouni Kenshin Live-Action Film Sequels Photo: Kenshin Himura


Aside from the first photo of Sojiro Seta in the upcoming live-action Rurouni Kenshin film sequels, here's a new picture of Takeru Satoh as Kenshin Himura in those two films.

In addition, the Warner Bros. Rurouni Kenshin site also teased that a new character picture will be revealed in December 2. The question is who is the character that they will reveal?

Live-Action Lupin III Film: First Photo of Shun Oguri as Lupin III Revealed?


A few days ago, we reported that Shun Oguri will play the role of Lupin III in the upcoming live-action Lupin III film. Just recently, an image of Oguri wearing Lupin's costume has surfaced online!

The trailer of Lupin III: Castle of Cagliostro

The picture, allegedly first spotted in a Chinese social media site features Oguri wearing Lupin's costume from the classic Hayao Miyazaki film, "Lupin III: Castle of Cagliostro". Oguri lost 18 lbs. for the role.

Filming for the movie started last October 3 and will film in a total of five countries, which includes Japan, Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong and the Philippines.

Lupin III premieres in Summer 2014.

Live-Action Rurouni Kenshin Movie Sequels: First Photo of Sojiro Seta


The first photo of Ryunosuke Kamiki as Sojiro Seta in the upcoming Rurouni Kenshin movie sequels has surfaced online. Seta is the right-hand man of former government assassin Makoto Shishio.

The last added cast member to the film is Tao Tsuchiya (Ultraman Zero) who will play Misao Makamichi. For the other additional cast members, you can check it here.

Live-Action Lupin III Film to Premiere in Summer 2014


We have previously reported that a live-action Lupin III film will star Shun Oguri (Detective Conan, Hana Yori Dango) as Lupin III. Just recently, we learned more of the additional cast members for the upcoming adaptation of the classic Monkey Punch manga.

Additional cast members include Meisa Kuroki (Crows Zero II) as Fujiko Mine, Tetsuji Tamayama (NANA, Casshern) as Daisuke Jigen, Gou Ayano (Rurouni Kenshin) as Goemon Ishikawa, and Tadanobu Asano (Thor) as Detective Kōichi Zenigata.

The movie is about how the five main characters meet and how they become the "Lupin Crew". The film will also feature an original character named Michael Lee, who is Lupin's nemesis. He is played by Taiwan's Jerry Yan of F4 (Meteor Garden).

Other cast members include South Korea's Kim Joon (Boys Over Flowers) and Thailand's Thanayong Wongtrakul (The Man from Nowhere), Nirut Sirijanya (The Hangover Part II), singer Yaya Ying and Australia's Nick Tate (Return from the River Kwai).

Because of the film's international cast, 14 interpreters translated between Japanese, English, Thai, Chinese, and Korean on location at Thailand once they will film the movie for two months on that location. Other filming locations for the film include: Singapore, Hong Kong and the Philippines.

Lasty, the movie is directed by Ryūhei Kitamura (Godzilla: Final Wars, Azumi) and Mataichirō Yamamoto (Crows Zero, Azumi) is writing the script. Spain's Pedro J. Márquez (Kidnapped) is serving as director of photography.

Lupin III premieres in Summer 2014.

Souta Fukushi Stars in Takashi Miike's Kami-sama no Iu Toori Live-Action Film


Souta Fukushi (Kamen Rider Fourze) stars in Takashi Miike's (Ace Attorney, Ninja Kids) latest project, a live-action film adaptation of Noboru Takahashi's Kami-sama no Iu Toori (As the Gods Will) manga.

This horror-survival story begins when strange and frightening things start to happening at Shun Takahata's (played by Fukushi) high school. After his teacher is killed, he and his classmates must play horrifying games in order to avoid death.

Pictured: Souta Fukushi, Hirona Yamazaki and Ryunosuke Kamiki

Also part of the casts are Hirona Yamazaki (Lesson of the Evil) as Shun's childhood friend Ichika Akimoto and Ryunosuke Kamiki (Summer Wars, Howl's Moving Castle) as Shun's violence-loving classmate Takeru Amaya.

The film's script is written by Hiroyuki Yatsu (Hanzawa Naoki, Ikigami: The Ultimate Limit) and will film the movie between June-October 2014. The film premieres in Fall 2015.
