Also, the debut of this guy.
Utchy continues his act of being a cool and stoic samurai in front of the Kyoryugers with a little help coming from Amy. But things start to change thanks to the MOTW from Utchy's past is now attacking the kids of this generation! With Utchy and King stuck in the MOTW's subspace, can the two team-up and stop him?
Compared to the previous episodes concerning Utchy, this episode is less frustrating as it addressed Utchy's act of being that cool and stoic samurai, an act that I hate at first but instantly fell in love with it. The problem with this is act is that it feels like it can't last for at least 5 episodes and just like the "secret identity" stuff from the earlier episodes. To be honest, it kinda makes sense; these gimmicks are going nowhere if they want to focus more on the characters, which I feel like this show is trying to do.
Now for the actual episode itself, it's a Children's Day episode so obviously, we will have the obligatory kids. While watching this episode, it gives me an impression that it is trying to recreate the 90's Kid of Week plots and they did a really good job with it. The kids are properly incorporated with the story and in Utchy's back story without the kids being out of place in the entire episode, the problem with some Kid of the Week plots. So what is the Kid of the Week plot in this episode? It has something to do with these kids not wanting to be losers and the MOTW's modus operandi is to let these kids use their rage and once they are full of rage, they are sent back to our world wherein they will be their rampage.
The said plot has this social commentary aspect in, like how most parents encourage their kids (or in this case, their mentors) to do their best that in some point, it becomes the drive of these kids. Once they ended up losing, some can take the lost, while as for some, they can't. Even though King tried to encourage the kid that it is okay to lose from time to time, the kid took the lost too seriously, causing him to end up in the MOTW's subspace.
Because this episode has something to do with anger and rage, Dogold is obviously involved with it. This is the only time I was disappointed in this episode, they didn't continue building up the Dogold and Utchy rivalry. Granted, Utchy is not in there when it happened but this is a perfect opportunity to continue building it up for later episodes, which will lead to some climax that will get us in the edge of our seat. Speaking of Utchy, his earlier interactions with King in subspace is just him trying to pull two of his personalities, the serious and stoic one and the samurai who is concern with his lord. Because of the said concern, he ends up giving some sleeping medicine to King.
Then it gets interesting, instead of King just letting the sleeping medicine taking its full effect in his body, he forced himself to wake up by using his Gaburevolver to bite his bottom! It's rather stupid of King but at least the plan work, and thus, he arrived just in time to help Utchy. After weeks of Utchy doing this cool and stoic samurai act, King made him realize the difference between him and his former lord. Unlike Utchy's lord, King considers him as a friend, same with the rest of the team. This kind of realization is something that Utchy needs. He realized that he can be honest of his true self with them, and thus, it finally ending his cool and stoic samurai act.
After this realization scene, we then proceed to the fight scenes that are seriously fantastic. It's intense; it's fun and gets you in the edge of your seat. What's more, they were able to escape in the subspace thanks to Gabutyra! Now that the team is assembled and that the secret is out, it is time to do the first team roll call and the first team fight. All I can say is, I have no words to express what I am feeling while watching those scenes. The fight scenes are really well done and to top it all off, the moves made by our heroes leading to one epic Kentrospiker finisher with KyoryuGold riding it made my jaw drop.
Now that we are done with it, it is time for the giant fight and since KyoryuGold is officially part of the team, it is time for them to combine Pteragordon and Kyoryuzin to form Raiden Kyoryuzin! The Raiden Kyoryuzin formation looks fantastic, the only problem I have with it is the bad use of KyoryuGold's theme. Seriously, it is distracting while hearing it alongside with Raiden Kyoryuzin's formation sound effects. As for its move sets, it is really cool, same goes with the finisher. Finally, they didn't use a green screen background that doesn't look really good.
At the end, with Utchy being more open with the team, he starts to act more natural by bringing gifts and being too thoughtful about his teammates. By being too thoughtful, that includes erasing all the cellphone numbers of chicks in Ian's phone! Did I mention that he called Nossan, "Nossan" even though Utchy is technically older than him?
