A model named Chiaki is this story arc's Gate and it just happened that she is Kousuke, Shunpei and Wajima's favorite model! Meanwhile, because of Agent Kizaki's request, Haruto and Rinko are investigating Gremlin's Gate, Sora Takigawa. Throughout the course of their investigation, they learned that Gremlin is not just your average Phantom...
Before talking about the stuff that happened in this episode, there is one thing I can't help but notice in the past few weeks. What I noticed is that Kousuke and Shunpei are really close, well act more like bickering siblings, but the point is, the two are very, very close. Now that I am done talking about it, it's time to talk about the model plot in this episode. To be honest, I find it a bit pointless in the show's earlier minutes. I mean, if this episode is all about Sora/Gremlin why not just focus it on him and drop the Phantom plot in this episode? As it turns out, Chiaki might be an important character after all.
Just like most tokusatsu episodes featuring our characters meeting up some celebrity, I kinda expected that Chiaki behind the camera is not someone Shunpei and Kousuke expect. To sum it all up, Chiaki is one hard working individual and takes time too seriously that she doesn't care if a Phantom will attack them. Speaking of the Phantom, I just hate his light attacks but love his way on spying on them. It is because of these events that Shunpei and Kousuke ended up becoming Chiaki's bodyguards causing them to learn the truth behind the camera.
Now for what this episode is all about, it is about Sora/Gremlin. For starters, we learned that he is the one who gave Kizaki's group the green magic stone, didn't find it interesting since he just casually gave Koyomi the yellow magic stone. Okay, so the episode addressed some continuity stuff, which is expected since the show is halfway done. Now for the parts that I didn't expect, for weeks now, Sora/Gremlin keeps on saying that he is Sora, not Gremlin. They keep on throwing hints but it felt like it is going nowhere that is until we learned more of his background.
We learned from his former boss that he is a beautician, and his Gate has the same quirks like that of his Phantom. As we all know, the Phantom that is sprung from the Gate doesn't have the same personality of the Gate as seen with the case of Lizardman, Phoenix and Medusa. Guess that Gremlin's claim that he is still Sora is real after all. Sora then appears and puts more emphasis on that claim of his. What made it more interesting is that he is the only Phantom who retained the quirks, personalities and etc. of his Gate, making him an anti-Wizard in a sense.
I mean look at it this way, Haruto was able to suppress the Phantom inside of him and can now use its powers to become a Wizard. While as for Sora, his Phantom self came out but he was able to retain his humanity. In short, there is something that Sora did in the past or maybe, during the solar eclipse that made him that way. We don't know what it is that is until he saw Chiaki in a distance while Wizard and Beast are fighting the Phantom. All we got is an image of a girl with long black hair and wears a white dress, this caused Sora to protect Chiaki in the process. At first I thought that Chiaki is related to Sora, but as it turns out, they are not really related. He just saved some stranger that's all. Guess there is still a bit of good left in him after all.
At the end, Sora ends up drowning in the nearby river thanks to the Phantom's attack, Wizard saves him and the episode ends there with Beast still busy fighting some Ghouls. But the bigger question is why the heck Sora saved Chiaki if for most of the time, he just let Gates fall to despair? In addition, what is the relation of the girl in a white dress to Sora's life?
