Choudenshi Bioman 08 – Joy's Message

 Truth hurts.

Peebo is now captured and Mason wants the data about the location of the Bio Base. For the sake of his friend, Peebo decides to teach them the location of the Bio Base but he is saved by the Biomen. Shiro is still suspicious about this "Joy" that they meet. Lastly, what is the content of Joy's letter?

The episode continued to expand Peebo's character and how gullible he is for an advance robot, which is understandable since he hasn't seen his friend for 500 years. The fact that he is willing to sacrifice their safety just to save his friend is something that I really admire about Peebo. Even though he is later saved by the Biomen, he never quits on trying to find a way to save his friend that eventually, the Biomen decided to help him with his search.

Because of this, we saw more of the abilities of the Biomen, namely Yellow Four's ability to create realistic holograms that they use to fool Mason, Messer and the Mecha Clones! Her new skill is really great and hopefully, we can see more interesting combination moves with that hologram move. Now that there are no guards, our heroes infiltrated another of New Gear Empire's base. The first thing I notice is that "Joy" is following them when they are infiltrating the base. Earlier in the episode, we see him in chains and the only ones who can free him from those chains is Mason!

Their search for Joy lead them to the corner of the base where they are producing Mecha Humans and the latest Mecha Human they made is Joy's Mecha Human. As expected, Peebo is shocked with this discovery even though we are aware of it because they showed it in the last minute of the previous episode. Aside from the Mecha Human blueprints of Joy, they also found his last message before Planet Bio was destroyed 500 years ago.

To sum up his message, Peebo must protect the Earth to those who will harm our planet because according to the citizens of the Planet Bio, it is the most beautiful planet in the galaxy. To put it simply, the message reminded Peebo his purpose on why he is on Earth at the first place. Joy's message reminded him of his mission and the wishes of the children living in Planet Bio to protect a young planet in the galaxy from ruin. Peebo cried after hearing his friend's message because from the sound of it, it seems that this is his final message before Planet Bio exploded 500 years ago.

Now that they are aware that the Joy they met is a fake, just like every robot created by some evil scientist, it self-destructed. Thinking that the Biomen are dead, Mason, Messer and the Mecha Clones rush to the ruined base only to see the sight of the Biomen still alive. Not surprised with it because if there is one thing I learn from watching Sentai, it would be no one dies during this period in the series, especially if you have some enhancements thanks to some reconstruction of the human body. In the case of the Biomen, they have Bio Particles inside their bodies that protected them and allowed them to transform in a split-second.

Now comes the fun part in this episode, the fights in this episode are really interesting and fantastic compared to the previous episode. Aside that Green Two has new moves; it seems that Pink Five is improving as a fighter. Another thing to note about the fights is that they decided to play more with the cameras, giving us interesting fight scenes in this episode. The episode also featured a new Bio Electron attack called "Bio Super Electron", which is basically a laser attack coming from their heads. Until now, I am still bothered why they can't easily kill the Beastnoids in this series even though these guys are hit by Bio Electron finishers every single episode.

The mecha fight in this episode is just fine I guess; the only thing to note is that they introduce a new laser eye beam attack that they use to escape from Isogin Kans' tentacle attack before finishing him with a variant of the Bio Robo's sword finisher. The episode ends with our heroes looking to a starry sky and Peebo once again promising his friend that he will protect Earth from its invaders.
