A man was arrested by the Hiroshima Prefecture police on suspicion of violating Japan's copyright laws by selling unauthorized Super Sentai cosplay costumes.
The 39-year-old man named Nobue Katou is the president of Nagai Works earned 300 million yen (about US$3.04 million) from sales of selling Super Sentai cosplay costumes without obtaining Toei Company, Ltd's permission to recreate costumes from the company's popular superhero franchise.
Katou allegedly conspired with his employees from March to April to recreate four jackets from Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger. The police suspect that the company earned about 32,000 yen (US$320) in net sales of those costumes during that period.
