Atlus, Now a Sega Subsidiary via Sega Dream

It's officially confirmed that Sega is taking over the operations of Index Corporations. Index owns and manages Atlus, the company responsible for games such as Etrian Odyssey, Shin Megami Tensei, and Persona.

This transfer happened last Wednesday, September 18th as the two companies signed an agreement under which Index Corporation's business will be transferred to Sega Dream, a newly established company wholly owned by Sega. The companies plan for the transfer to take effect by November 1.

Because of this news, Atlus' head of consumer software, Naoto Hiraoka issued a statement to assure fans that business will continue as before. He revealed that the entire consumer game unit will remain focused on developing titles for future release and added that they maintained a good relationship with Sega from before.

Lastly, he thinks that this under Sega, the current potential for business synergy is very high and specifically mentioned Sega's strong distribution network as beneficial going forward.
