It's official. The anime adaptation of Machiko Hasegawa's Sazae-san manga is officially declared by the Guinness World Records as the longest-running animated TV series in the world.
A ceremony was also held to commemorate the event and accepting the award is Sazae-san's voice actress, Midori Kato. She's been Sazae-san's voice for 45 years since it first aired on Fuji TV and still remained on top of the Japanese TV rankings. As of September 1st, the show has over 2,250 episodes (with about 7,000 short stories).
