The full trailer of the upcoming live-action Gatchaman movie has surfaced online. In addition, the rock band BUMP OF CHICKEN will perform the movie's theme song, "Niji o Motsu Hito".
The movie stars Tori Matsuzaka (Samurai Sentai Shinkenger) as Ken the Eagle, Go Ayano (Kamen Rider 555, Rurouni Kenshin) as Joe the Condor, Ayame Goriki (Mirai Nikki, Black Butler) as Jun the Swan, Tatsuomi Hamada (Ultraman Zero, Gokaiger vs. Gavan) as Jinpei the Swallow and Ryohei Suzuki (Hentai Kamen) as Ryu the Owl.
In the movie, the five serve as agents of the International Science Organization in Tokyo at the beginning of the 21st century. Galactor, a mysterious group whose technology far surpasses that of humans, has declared war on the entire world and has already subjugated half of it.
A mysterious crystal-like object called a "stone," is humanity's only hope. Those who are able to draw out the power of the "stones" are forced to train as Earth's ultimate weapon, a five-person team called "Gatchaman."
The movie will be directed by Toya Sato (live-action Grave of the Fireflies, Gokusen), Yusuke Watanabe (Gantz, Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods) will write the script and Shinji Aramaki (Appleseed) in-charge with the character designs. Lastly, Takashi Yamazaki (Space Battleship Yamato) is handling the visual effects.
Gatchaman premieres this August 24, 2013.
