That ancient crocodile weapon man.
Thanks to this week's MOTW, humans are looking for treasure in places that there is no treasure and thus, our heroes will stop them! But because of Aigaron's interest in King's pendant, Ian finally learns who is truly responsible to Shiro's death. Will Ian first seek his revenge or save his new friends?
One thing that I complained about this series is the lack of Ian focused episodes. I mean, for the past few weeks we have episodes dedicated to the other five Kyoryugers, but no episode dedicated for Black until this episode came along. But before talking about Ian, let's talk about Deboth's plan to raise happiness, by treasure hunting. This plan really made sense because most of us are happy once we discover some treasure chest or a place where to dig treasure. But since this is not the primary focus of this episode, I'll just skip it because it is obvious that this plot will be resolved eventually in the episode without us noticing it.
And now, for the Ian focus in this episode. What I like about it is that they expanded the plot about King's pendant related to the stone that Ian and Shiro found in Europe while at the same time, giving Ian some character development. Now that he knows who the true culprit is, obviously, he wants to kill Aigaron as soon as possible, and thus, giving birth to a new rivalry. What I like about it is that Ian is not thinking straight after he learned the truth that his teammates tried to stop him. To make matters worse, King, Utchy and Amy are trapped in a pile heavy slabs that can't be destroyed by the Dricera Lance!
Because of this, the remaining Kyoryugers are forced to retreat temporarily. After our heroes regrouped in the Spirit Base, Ian decides not to go for now because of what happened to his teammates. And thus, Souji decides to give him a pep talk. What I like about this scene is that it highlights the closeness between these two and showed us that the Ian we know from his introduction episode is not the same Ian we know. He matured a bit and that he starts to trust others more often. With that in mind, Ian decides to do something risky just to save his friends and that is to use Beast Battery #12 Deinosgrander.
Ian finally returns to battle and what I like about it is that his teammates are busy fighting their respective opponents and the only one who has no opponent is Aigaron. What's great about this scene is that it showed us that the reason why he is using the Deinosgrander Battery is not because of his revenge, but because he wants to save his friends. Comparing it to the time that he tried using the Kentrospiker Battery, the scene where he tried using the Battery for the first time showed us that he knows what he is thinking and that he figured something out based from the Battery.
Deinosgrander's debut is quite interesting; it's interesting in a sense that I don't remember the toy in the official toy catalogs. Another thing that I find interesting about it is that it needs an Armed On for it to work. Guess the rumor about it being KyoryuGold's special Armed On might be false after all then. As for its abilities, like what Torin said earlier in the episode, it's digging powers is greater than Ankydon or Dricera and the scene wherein Ian easily drills the slabs showed us how powerful Deinosgrander is.
Now that Ian saved his teammates, it is time for Souji to do something for Ian. In this case, he is the one who grabbed the jewel that Aigaron stole from Ian and Shiro. What's cool about this scene is how Souji retrieved the jewel. It is like he just used his reflexes and his environment in his own advantage and the fact that it seems like Aigaron is not paying attention after seeing Ian save his friends.
And finally, the team battle in this look is really great. What I really like about it is how Ian used Deinosgrander in battle. I mean, he is basically using a piece of ancient crocodile mouth in his hands as weapons! The best part about it is that he didn't spam Deinosgrander's digging powers; he only used it during the times he needs to break some hard objects, like the slabs used by the MOTW and for him to deliver the final blow. Speaking of which, the special Kentrospiker and Deinosgrander finishing move is really amazing.
As for the giant battle, it is quite interesting since it felt like the writer remembered that Pteragordon still exist and that Kyoryuzin used it as his means to escape from the pile of slabs thrown at him by the MOTW. After escaping from those slab attacks, it is time to deliver the finishing blow as Raiden Kyoryuzin. After they are done defeating the MOTW, Ian decides to continue his research about the jewel. But that's not what I found interesting. What interests me in this scene is Torin's line about the history of the ancient dinosaurs being revealed to them in the future. I am not sure what this history Torin is talking about is but hopefully, it has something to do with the jewels and why they shine inside the Spirit Base.
