Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger 15 – Old Dreams

Want a funny Nossan episode? Not happening now!

We meet Nossan's best friend, Nakazato and his invention a robot named G-BO. Unlike Nossan who is one fun character, Nakazato has some... issues. This then lead us to the plot of the episode, Dogold wants G-BO for his new body!

When I first saw G-BO in this episode, I can't help but notice the orange part in its body, it feels a bit out of place for some reason. Turns out to be right after all as it turns out that it is in an emotion chip and its purpose is to fuel G-BO with Nakazato's anger, said anger is needed so that Dogold can use it as his new body. Having a robot body sounds like a dumb idea considering that it needs to be charged often, but having it fueled with anger via some emotion chip, now that's interesting. By the looks of the time Dogold is inside the armor, the only problem he Dogold will face with the robot is the creator interference. Without the creator interference, Dogold is one unstoppable being.

Aside from this plot about Dogold's body, the episode also reminded us about the rivalry between Utchy and Dogold. Though the fight between the two is quite brief, it sends us the message that the writer of the series has not forgotten about it. My only disappointment of it is that the duel is quite short and was stopped thanks to Dogold's current body can't handle it.

Even if that is the case, the rivalry between Utchy and Dogold is not the main focus of this episode, it is about the dreams of Nossan and Nakazato back in high school and how Nakazato lose sight of those dreams. This episode expanded the knowledge we have from the previous Nossan episode that Nossan worked in some multinational company before getting into the odd jobs business. The episode explained why it sounded like Nossan didn't think twice of continuing his brother-in-law's odd jobs business. The reason why he continued his brother-in-law's business makes a sense after we learn more about his past. He just wants to help people that's all.

With that in mind, Nakazato is quite opposite. He is one of those characters who had this dream once but because of ego and pride, he lose sight of this dream. But in Nakazato case, he claims that he didn't lose sight of that dream, but the way I see it, it feels like he replaced his old dream with a new one that is the opposite of his original dream. What I like about it is that the original dream is about being selfless and the new dream is concerned more with Nakazato's ego and he will do everything just to achieve that dream, and that includes having Dogold use G-BO as his new body.

This scenario leads us to one emotional scene between two friends, on how Nossan made Nakazato remember his old dream. The flashback scene is really well done and you can see Nakazato's sincerity to help others before he ended up becoming one power hungry scientist. His sudden change of heart is well done but with all the things he did in this episode, it doesn't feel really authentic in my opinion.

The final fight scene is really fantastic as it features a lot of interesting moves coming from our heroes. As for the obligatory giant battle, since the episode didn't feature any monster of the week as it has something to do with Dogold and his supposed new body, we have a Cambriman for the giant battle. What I like about the giant battle is that they remembered Kyoryuzin Macho, a formation they kinda forgot these past few weeks. Also, we have a new combination in the form of Pteraidenoh Macho! At the end, they defeated the Cambriman and that Nakazato is now focused with his old dream, to create a robot to help people.
