Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters 46 – It's A Mad, Mad Ryuji

Badass? Badass.

Yoko thinks that Ryuji is annoying because he is bothering Yoko about her future after defeating the Vaglass remnants. But because of some Enetron discharge signal, the Go-Busters saw Enter... and Escape?! Guess the fight with Vaglass not yet far from over.

This episode is seriously fantastic. Before talking about the main meat about this episode, let's talk about what happened in the earlier minutes of this episode. It's basically Ryuji being depressed about Yoko thinking that he is annoying. I kinda agree with Yoko in this one since he is like forcing Yoko to check high school brochures for her future. Ryuji has a point to begin with, Yoko is still young and that she has a bright future ahead of her. Thinking about what she will do next after defeating the remaining Vaglass remnants is something that she should do around this time. But nope, she just finds Ryuji concern over her annoying.

Back to the Command Center, they detected an Enetron signal. Could this be related to the final Messiah Card, the mysterious #13 card? For once, we see Yoko ride Nick in bike form, something we rarely see in this series. It is all thanks to her fight with Ryuji earlier in the episode! Unlike their previous searches, this is one of the rare times our heroes went to a forest to look for a Metaroid. To remind us viewers, all Metaroids are created by artificial constructs so having a signal coming from a forest is a bit... peculiar. This is when we saw Enter and Escape, alive with new hairdos.

The revelation that Enter and Escape are still alive stunned the Go-Busters. Though we knew about it last year thanks to his appearance at the end of the Christmas episode, but seeing their faces react of the sight of Enter and Escape alive is one interesting sight to see. The bigger surprise of their return is that Escape "reformatted", like all of her previous data were cleaned up and forgot her rivalry with Blue Buster. Ryuji's reaction about the "new" Escape is kinda interesting. It didn't help that she had some upgrades in her transformed form.

Ryuji's fight with Escape is something I missed seeing since every time they tried to give us a Blue Buster vs. Escape rematch, someone will enter and fight Escape in Ryuji's stead. Now that all of them are busy fighting someone, Ryuji is left with Escape. All I can say is that it is as fun as the first time Ryuji fought her in berserk mode. Speaking of which, Escape's transformed form has some cool flamethrowers in it, causing Ryuji to go berserk this easily. Speaking of this berserk Ryuji, it's been a while since we see Ryuji on a rampage in the battlefield. At the end, their battle ended up with them falling in the bridge. Guess Ryuji will cool down for a bit... for now.

Hiromu and Enter's face off is just fine I guess. It's not as great as Ryuji vs. Escape in this scene but this gives us a clue about Enter's personality with his second reappearance. Enter in this scene gave me an impression that his personality is a mix between the Enter we first saw in the series and the second Enter we saw after his defeat back in Hyperspace with something dark added in it. I don't know what kind of darkness this is, but I have this feeling that this Enter incarnation is darker than the previous incarnations he had.

After Enter left the scene, the Go-Busters starts looking for Ryuji, even though she had a fight with Ryuji earlier in the episode, we saw how worried Yoko is for the man who acted like her older brother for most of the time she stayed in EMC. Speaking of Ryuji, the river dragged him in a nearby beach and the first thing he sees is Escape, who wants him... for the second time. For some reason, it feels like I am seeing two lovers who are having this love-hate relationship to each other. Seriously, the only thing that is missing is them to have this really intense kissing scene or something close to it in my opinion.

Because Escape wants a round 2, she figured out that the best way to start Ryuji's berserk engines is to heat things up... literally. One thing I noticed is that Escape's flower has the ability to create small flames. Much to my surprise, this small flame is so strong that it made Ryuji overheats easily. Their fight is just as good as their first fight in this episode. Thankfully, he fell on the sea at one point during their fight, cooling his body for a while and got a chance to use the Powered Custom. Much to my surprise, Powered Custom is not enough to stop Escape, something that didn't surprise me considering her upgrades.

At the end, the Powered Custom fusion is cancelled, the Blue Buster armor is well, busted and to top it all off, he is back in berserk mode. Thankfully, Hiromu arrived and placed him away from Escape so that Yoko can calm him down while Hiromu will fight Escape. The way Yoko tries to calm Ryuji is actually quite bad. Thankfully, berserk Ryuji is fun to watch every time he is on screen. Didn't help that his destroyed suit made him look more of a badass!

The Yoko flashback scene also didn't help Ryuji revert back to regular Ryuji. The only thing it did is to add drama and showed us the relationship between Ryuji and Yoko for years. From Yoko's middle school graduation to their missions together as Go-Busters, it just fun seeing how their relationship grew for years. One thing to point out in this flashback scene is that according to some guy who understands Japanese, the surname of Yoko's school principal is Hoshikawa.

To those who are not aware, the Hoshikawa family is a family of teachers from Chikyuu Sentai Fiveman. So yeah, it is likely that Yoko might have met the Fivemen... or someone with the same surname like theirs. At the end, Yoko transformed just to have enough force to push Ryuji to a nearby sea, cooling his body during the process. Now that Ryuji finally cooled down, let's see what happened to the rest of the Go-Busters.

Their fight with Escape is fantastic and not seeing the "Boost Up for Buster" finisher stock footage sequence in this scene was something that surprised me. Yoko finally catches up and defeated Escape thanks to the Lio Blaster. Enter appears and showed us some of his new upgrades. After applying some Enetron in a wire and attach J's stag beetle, he created the StagBeetleroid. So yeah, this showed us that the Enetron discharge in some forest is because of Enter applying some to a flower who then transforms into Escape. The episode ends and I still have no clue how a flower is related in Escape's creation. Speaking of which, it seems that Enter now has the ability to mass produce Escape is he wants too.
