Tensou Sentai Goseiger 06 – Angel Training

We got a badass right here.

Because Nozomu can't do a pullover and his classmates laugh at him, he is now depressed. Alata decides to help him out by demonstrating him how to do one... only to fail. Thinking that doing a pullover is useless, Alata comments that nothing is useless in this world. Also, Dareptor, a guy who thinks that humans are worthless creatures is back in the field, reigniting a rivalry that began earlier in the series.

This is one of the episodes of the series that showed us why Alata deserves to be given the color red in the series. His sheer determination to do things that a kid thinks is impossible and useless is what makes him a good role model to kids these days. What's more, he tried doing pullovers even though he has an injured arm for crying out loud! What's impressive about it is that he is using healing Invocations and hides this injury to his teammates! And here I was thinking that it was healed after the second episode!

The MOTW has the ability to run fast... and Alata can detect his presence by observing and feeling the wind around him. The way he detected the MOTW is so impressive that the other Goseigers want to learn it later in the episode. His first fight with Dareptor in this episode is very brief, so I will not talk much about it aside that they reminded us about the established rivalry earlier in the series.

The training of the other four Goseigers on how to detect the opponent with the use of the wind around them is really impressive. I just love that after Eri summoned four small yet strong tornadoes, they just tied the blind folds and begin their training without any supervision from someone who knows the technique, like Alata. Speaking of which, Alata continues his pullover training. Aside from the earlier mentioned that he is training with an injured arm, having Nozumu watch Alata's training with the knowledge that he is injured made the scene a bit more dramatic for the two characters.

At the end, the four Goseigers finally learned Alata's technique while as for Alata; we still don't know if his training bore any fruit. The MOTW appears and begins his attack on the city. After Alata detects Dareptor's presence, the two began their duel. The duel between these two is really fun to watch. The sword clashing and Alata using some tricks such as shooting Dareptor with the Gosei Blaster on its holster is something that really impressed me.

But what's more impressive is how Alata managed to use his pullover training in battle. What surprised me about this scene is that Alata hasn't mastered doing a simple pullover and it is the only time he actually mastered the move! I guess his instinct to defeat his rival and a chance to show Nozomu that there is nothing useless in this world might have contributed to this sudden mastery of doing a pullover. Speaking of Nozomu, he is watching this fight via Datas. By the looks of his face, it seems that he is starting to understand Alata's behavior and determination a bit more.

As for the other four Goseigers, their training paid off and they decided to defeat the MOTW with a Seaick Bullet finisher. The new finisher is just four Headder Bullet attacks combined to form one giant floating ball of water. So yeah, it is not that impressive in my taste. Bladerun then summons some B.B. Bugs to enlarge the MOTW. What's surprising about this is that Alata is not strong enough to pilot the GoseiGreat, which means that his battle with Dareptor in this episode put a lot of strain in his body.

Agri and Moune shined during the giant battle. Their determination to beat the MOTW while running because they can't fly activated the miracle, and yes, it's the Landick Brothers Card. This card can summon three Headders just like the Seaick Brothers Card. Instead of showing us what these Headders can do individually just like the last one, instead these three combined with the GoseiGreat to form the Landick GoseiGreat.

If there is one thing that I can complain about this mecha aside from its overall appearance since it kinda looks a bit odd seeing four heads in both legs, is that I find it too early to introduce a new set of additional mecha. I mean, they can just reserve it for the next episode so that they can show us more of Seaick GoseiGreat in battle. But if Toei has this obligation to Bandai to release a new toy in the show every day, then they should have Alata and Eri to summon the Skyick Brothers because of the heavy focus on Alata in this episode.

Landick GoseiGreat's finisher can be summed up with two words: drill kick. Because drills are awesome and so does kicking in my books, I find Landick GoseiGreat's finisher really fantastic. At the end, thanks to Alata's determination to do a pullover, Alata finally started trying again if he can do a pullover. Speaking of Nozomu, he feels and sounds like the generic kid of the week character in Kyoryuu Sentai Zyuranger whose only job in the series is to be that guy the hero must save from the castle or teach a lesson to the kids who is watching. I guess best of luck to Nozomu and your training!
