CW Has No Plans for a Battle Royale Remake

The CW TV network president Marc Pedowitz confirmed that his network do not have plans for a remake of Koushun Takami's Battle Royale novel.

This was revealed during a meeting with reporters on the Television Critics Association winter press tour. He revealed that they are not planning anything with Battle Royale. He also noted that his earlier interest came before the mass shootings in Colorado and Connecticut.

It was reported last July that The CW network was exploring an idea of remake. Pedowitz said, "All we did was a phone call. We're not planning to do anything that we cannot get on the air."

He also acknowledge the novel's cult following and its influence. The original novel was adapted into a film in 2000 that spawned a later movie sequel. It was later adapted into a manga that spanned 15 volumes.
