New Writers for NOIR Live Action Series Confirmed
Deadline news website had reported that the writers for the previously announced that the live action adaptation and remake of the 2001 assassin anime series NOIR have finally be revealed.
The NOIR writers are Cyris Voris and Ethan Reiff. Both guys created the US television series Sleeper Cell, that aired on the Showtime in 2005. Sam Raimi (Spider-Man, Xena) and Rob Tapert (The Evil Dead, Legend of the Seeker) will be the executive producers for the NOIR live action series.
The project was approved in June 2011, and should be slated for Summer 2012, but was put on hold after original writer Steven Lightfoot was replaced by Sean Jablonski in October 2011. When ask about the project, Starz’s Chris Albrecht stated, “ [NOIR] ran into some creative challenges but […] I'm very confident Noir will be on, just not sure when."
NOIR is a 2001 anime series that tells the story of Mireille Bouquet and Yumura Kirika, who set sail to find out the truth about the latter’s past. While at first they seem to be only vaguely related to each other, there are clues and hints given throughout the series that there is more going on behind the scenes than at first glance.
