Idol group AKB48 had recently revealed the cover arts for their 27th single “Gingham Check.” The single features the top 16 members of the “4th AKB48 Senbatsu General Election” held last June.
AKB48's “Gingham Check” will be the second single making Yuko Oshima as the center, after August 2010's hit “Heavy Rotation.” It was also announced that Korean music video director Joseph Kahn will be directing the single's music video.
Joseph Kahn had worked with big artists in the music scene including U2, Janet Jackson, Lady Gaga, Mariah Carey, Backstreet Boys, and more.
Since in his childhood days, Kahn claims that he grew up watching Japanese pop culture. He stated, “I wanted to make the MV very Japanese-like. I hope the fans see it as new style J-POP music video, just like a joyful dreamland which is big scaled and enjoyable.”
Furthermore, Type A of “Gingham Check” will include the B-Side track “Yume no Kawa”. The song is said to be a send off to Atsuko Maeda, who will be graduating this August 27th.
AKB48's “Gingham Check” will be released this August 29th and available in four different versions: CD+DVD Limited Edition A and B, and CD+DVD Regular Edition A and B, for 1524 yen each. Pre-order your copies now at CDJapan to get limited edition photo!
