Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies Special DLC Episode Western Release this November

Capcom announced that the Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies special episode, "Turnabout Reclaim" will be soon available in North America and Europe this November!

In this special episode, it tells the story of the first case Phoenix Wright handled after he got his Attorney's badge back. In this case, we meet self-proclaimed pirate Sasha Buckler as she wants Wright and his team to defend... a killer whale?!

Pearl Fey returns in this chapter to assist Wright and co. as they face off against the mysterious prosecutor Simon Blackquill.

This episode will available this November 21st on the Nintendo eShop and costs €4.99/$5.99/£3.99.

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies Launch Trailer

The official Capcom Unity YouTube channel posted the launch trailer of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies for the Nintendo 3DS.


The trailer features the English dubbed dialogue of Phoenix Wright, Apollo Justice, the new associate attorney Athena Cykes, opposing counsel Simon Blackquill, and Detective Bobby Fullbright.

The game is now available on the Nintendo eShop in North America and Europe for US$24.99 or €24.99. In addition, people who download the game before November 7 will receive a free costume pack.

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies Anime Teaser Trailer

The official Capcom Unity website started streaming an anime teaser trailer for the Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies for the Nintendo 3DS.


The anime teaser trailer features Phoenix Wright and associate attorney Athena Cykes with English dialogue. The game will be available digitally via the Nintendo e-Shop in North America and Europe on October 24 for US$24.99 or €24.99.

In addition, the Western release will also include the DLC content from the Japanese release, which includes the special chapter and the new costumes.

Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies Western Release Date Revealed

The Western release date of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies is finally revealed! The game is exclusively available via the Nintendo eShop.

The game will be released this October 24th and costs $29.99 in North America and EUR24.99 in Europe. In addition, Capcom will also reveal details regarding the additional "Turnabout Return" DLC chapter of the game soon, as well as costume DLC.

Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney Receives English Language Release Next Year

Nintendo announced in this week's Nintendo Direct that Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney will finally have an English language release this 2014!


Originally released in Japan in November 29, 2012, the game centers around witch trial. A girl is branded as a witch and sentenced to be burned at the stake. It's up to these two brilliant minds to get to the bottom of the case.

The game features animated cutscenes made by anime studio BONES (Fullmetal Alchemist, Eureka Seven) and voice acting.

Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies Special Chapter DLC Will Be Available in the West

The special DLC chapter of Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies called "Turnabout Return", will be available in the west! This special chapter takes place between between Apollo Justice and this game.

Aside from this DLC, the DLC for new costumes for Phoenix, Apollo and Athena will also be available in the west. Sadly, the quiz DLC will not be available in the west. A Capcom representative revealed the reason why it's not available in the west. He said, "Unfortunately, the quiz DLC won't be coming to western territories since it requires an in-depth knowledge of Japanese culture."

Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies Special Chapter DLC Announced

A new DLC for Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies called "Special Chapter: Turnabout Return" was announced recently. This new case will bridge the gap between Apollo Justice and this game.

The game will feature Phoenix's first case after he got his badge to practice law once more and his first case is... to defend an orca against a murder charge in court. The price and the release date of this DLC is yet to be announced by Capcom.

Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies Comic-Con Gameplay Trailer, Game's ESRB Rating Revealed

Here's the latest gameplay trailer for Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies for the Nintendo 3DS seen in this year's San Diego Comic-Con. The gameplay trailer features Apollo and Athena investigating a crime, which leads them to Phoenix's last will?


Unlike the previously Ace Attorney games, this game is Rated M because of the "nature of the various crimes and storylines in this latest title in the series, ESRB deemed the title an M" according to a Capcom representative in an interview with Joystiq.

Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies Gameplay Video - Meet Simon Blackquill

Capcom started streaming a gameplay video of Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies' 3rd episode called "Turnabout Academy". This episode marks the debut of Prosecutor Simon Blackquill, a prosecutor who is serving his time for murder.


An incident at the Themis Legal Academy sees the young law student and friend of Athena Sykes, Juniper Woods, arrested for the murder of Constance Courte. It will be down to Apollo Justice and his team to defend the accused against returning German prosecutor and guitar playing Klavier Gavin.

Ace Attorney Investigations 2 Producer Explains Why It Didn't Have An English Release

Fans assumed that the reason why Ace Attorney Investigations 2 never had an official release is because of the poor performance of the first one. Series producer Motohide Eshiro clarified this notion.

He revealed at this year's E3 that the localization for the said game was held up due to scheduling. "Also, the staff for Ace Attorney Investigations 2—after they finished developing the game, they were disbanded and went to different teams, so they weren't in a position to localize."

Kotaku asked of a possibility of seeing the game in any form in the future. Eshiro replied that he can't make any promises about it.

Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies 3DS Game Latest Nintendo Direct Trailer

The latest trailer for the 5th installment of the Ace Attorney franchise, Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies was revealed in this week's Nintendo Direct.

The game takes place one year after the events of Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney. Nick now has a new partner in the form of Athena Cykes as they face Jin Yuugami, a new enemy prosecutor. Also introduced in the new game is the hot-headed detective Gouzou Ban.

Trailer starts at the 2:40 mark

The game will also feature returning characters, which includes Apollo Justice and his partner, Trucy Wright. Also seen at the end of the trailer is Nick's rival, Miles Edgeworth.

In addition, a demo for the game will be released via the Nintendo eShop this June. The game will be released in Japan this July 25th and in the West via digital distribution this fall for the Nintendo 3DS.

New Ace Attorney Stage Play "Turnabout Spotlight" Revealed

A new stage play adaptation based on Capcom's Ace Attorney video game franchise called "Turnabout Spotlight" will run from July 31 to August 4 at the Rikkoukai Hall in Kitashinagawa, Tokyo.

The story of the play takes place at a theater where Steel Samurai is performing. Watching the performance are: passionate defense attorney Phoenix Wright (played by Kentaro Kanesaki) and his assistant Maya Fey (played by Karin Ogino); Larry Butz (played by Akihiro Hayashi), prosecutor Miles Edgeworth (played by Takuma Wada) and detective Dick Gumshoe (played by Ryuko Isogai).

During Steel Samurai's fight scene, a large lantern suddenly falls down, setting the stage on fire. Wil Powers (played by Isamu Sugihara) has been labeled a suspect, but for some reason, he refuses to hire a lawyer and does not speak. The eyewitnesses are all of the audience members.

Eisaku Saito will be writing the scripts for the play, while Makoto Ozeki handled casting. Tickets for the play will be available for purchase for the price of 5,800 yen (about US$57).

Capcom USA's Svensson Explains Ace Attorney 5's Digital Release

It was previously reported that Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies is only available digitally via the Nintendo 3DS eShop. Fans wondered why it is released digitally, and thus, Capcom USA's Senior Vice President, Christian Svensson explains the reason why.

Sorry guys, but a physical release is not in the cards.

Historically it’s been tough to attract long term retail support for Ace Attorney titles. With the release of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies we wanted as many people as possible to be able to enjoy the game for as long as possible. With that in mind we have opted for a digital only release via the Nintendo 3DS eShop.

I understand that this decision may upset fans who wanted to have a physical version of the title to add to their collection but we believe this direction is the best to take.

We will be confirming details on the price point in the not-so-distant future which I hope will also shed more light on the strategy at play here.

Ace Attorney 5 Nintendo 3DS English Game Trailer

Capcom Europe's YouTube channel posted the English trailer of Ace Attorney 5, which is renamed in the West as Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies. The game will be released digitally in North America and Europe for the Ninento 3DS this fall.


The game takes place one year after the events of Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney, the announcement trailer features the new Mood Matrix feature and Nick's new partner, Athena Cykes (Japanese: Kokone Kizuki). In the game, Nick and Athena will battle in court against the younger brother of Winston Payne, Gaspen Payne.

Latest Ace Attorney 5 3DS Game Trailer

Here's the latest trailer of Ace Attorney 5, which reveals the game's gameplay and the main characters. The game is set for a July 25 release in Japan.


Phoenix returns to the court room with his new assistant Kokone Kizuki. The new game will feature an updated gameplay system that features cute emoticons as part of the gameplay.

Ace Attorney 5 Special Editions, New Trailer, New Character Revealed

Capcom announced that the upcoming Ace Attorney 5 for the Nintendo 3DS will have special edition releases in Japan! In addition, Capcom released a new trailer for the game.

The Limited Edition comes with a 1/10 scale Phoenix Wright figure, a character deco sticker, a 3DS pouch with a Phoenix Wright suit design, and three replacement jackets. This will retail for 9,990 yen.


The Figure Edition comes with the figure and one replacement jacket. This will retail for 8,990 yen. Lastly, the Extended Edition comes with the sticker, pouch, and one replacement jacket. This will retail for 7,590 yen. To those interested to purchase any of the special editions, one can purchase it via the e-CAPCOM shop.

As for the regular edition, it will retail for 5,990 yen and comes with a replacement jacket. In addition, Capcom is also offering free DLC costumes from July 25 through August 15. The DLC costumes are: Phoenix's suit from the first three games, Apollo's street clothes and Kokone's high school uniform.

Aside from the bonuses this game has, Capcom updated their Ace Attorney 5 website, revealing new info about a new character named Jin Yugami, a prosecutor who is currently serving his jail sentence for murder.


The public prosecutor's office has nominated him to stand in court. Due to his controversial position, he causes trouble in the court, which has made him known as the "disfigurement of the legal world".

Yugami specializes in courtroom tactics that involve psychology. He uses his sharp eyes to read the thoughts of others and plays mind games by speaking in a calm manner for a moment and then suddenly switching to a much more violent tone.

Ace Attorney 5 will be released for the Nintendo 3DS this July 25.

The main protagonist of 4th Ace Attorney game, Apollo Justice returns in Ace Attorney 5 as reported in this week's issue of Famitsu!

The issue featured a picture of Apollo with his right eye and right arm wrapped in bandages... and he looks like one badass pirate lawyer for some reason.

2012 Year End SP: Top 5 2012 Japanese Movies

What I expected to see this year. It's worth the wait.

2012 is also a great year for Japanese movies and here are my top 5 list of my favorite Japanese movies. Because I don't live in Japan, this list also includes movies that have their home video release this year.

5. K-ON! the Movie
I admit, I didn't watch the second season but it didn't hinder my enjoyment of watching this movie since this movie is basically an episode of K-ON! that lasted for more than an hour with a plot that has something to do with the main four members of the Light Music Club graduating from high school and decided to have a trip in London before they graduate. Its fun, it's cute and lastly, it's also an emotional roller coaster ride as the movie deals with issues related to graduation and leaving an underclassman behind. [MOVIE REVIEW SOON]

4. Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger vs. Space Sheriff Gavan the Movie
Though at first I am having a hard time accepting the fact that this Super Sentai Versus movie will feature a crossover with Space Sheriff Gavan since it doesn't make much sense, I ended up actually enjoying the movie. Aside from having three Kenji Ohbas in one scene and references to past Space Sheriff programs, it also gave us another side of Marvelous' past that the series didn't explore. It's entertaining and gave me interest in watching some shows in the Metal Hero franchise. Too bad, not all of them are fully subbed. [MOVIE REVIEW SOON]

3. Ace Attorney
Before watching the movie, I decided to play the Nintendo DS port of the original GBA game since hey; it's the only version available in English! After finishing four chapters of the game, I got more hyped in watching the movie and boy, I am not disappointed. To sum up the movie, this is the closest thing we have for a good video game live-action movie adaptation. [MOVIE REVIEW SOON]

2. Kamen Rider x Kamen Rider Fourze & OOO: Movie Wars MEGAMAX
After two Movie Wars movies, this movie finally got the perfect formula for a Kamen Rider crossover movie without it becoming a Super Sentai Versus movie. The way how they tied up the events of the OOO and Fourze segments to the main plot of the movie is superbly done. The fights are really amazing especially the movie's climax scene. 1. Rurouni Kenshin
After much anticipation, I was able to watch Rurouni Kenshin twice when it hit Philippine cinemas earlier this month. All I can say is the wait and the Facebook campaign in bringing this movie to Philippine shores is worth it. This is one of those Japanese comic book movie adaptations that really worked thanks to how it faithfully recreated the setting of the original manga into film. To put it simply, it's hard to describe this movie in one paragraph, so here, just read my review of this movie. [READ MOVIE REVIEW HERE]

Special Mentions

Here are some movies that I anticipated this year, only to end up getting disappointed.

Sadako 3D
The movie's concept is interesting but as for the rest of it, it was... horrible. Seriously, I need to forget the fact that this movie features bad CGI Sadako zombies and a lame male protagonist, who happens to be the same guy who played Kamen Rider Kiva! Until now, I regret watching this movie when it hit Philippine cinemas earlier this year. [READ MOVIE REVIEW HERE]

Kamen Rider x Super Sentai: Super Hero Taisen
It has an interesting concept yet failed in terms of execution. Seriously, the plot is so bad that I want this movie to end as soon as possible. Also, a lot of characters seem to be out of character and that's a bad thing. The viewer loses their money while Toei is swimming on a heap pile of cash. Oh well, at least the final scene of the movie is really amazing. [MOVIE REVIEW SOON]

Ace Attorney 5's Voice Acting is Limited Only to Iconic Catchphrases!

Many fans wondered if Ace Attorney 5 will feature voice acting since the game will be released in the Nintendo 3DS. Just recently, Capcom's Brett Elston tweeted that the voice acting is only limited to the catchphrases!

To those who are not familiar with the game's catchphrases, those phrases are: "HOLD IT!", "TAKE THAT!" and the fan favorite, "OBJECTION!" With the new Nintendo 3DS release, expect crisper and cleaner sounding of these epic catchphrases that made Ace Attorney an iconic game.
