Choudenshi Bioman 19 – Doctor Man's Son

And he also has that amazing hair.

We finally meet Doctor Man's son named Prince and thus confirming the fact that Doctor Man is indeed, well... a man. Because he is a son of a super villain, Ryuta aka Blue Three wants him to realize his humanity. Can he make Prince realize the fragility of human life?

This is seriously one interesting episode. It's interesting in a sense since we learned that Doctor Man's subordinates are not aware that Doctor Man is well... a man. I am not sure why they just assumed that Doctor Man is a robot, but come on, his name is a dead giveaway that he is well... a man! To make it a bit more interesting, I just love that Mason is starting to develop some doubts about his creator. I mean, after learning that he is a human being and not a robot like what he think he is, how will this affect their mission to conquer humanity if their boss is actually human. Hopefully, they can expand on that plot in later episodes.

Now for Prince, he is one fine villain. For a teenager, he can create his own Mecha Giant, what's great about this guy is that he knows his stuff. He does experiment his Mecha Giants first before sending them in the field, something that most scientist will do before releasing something in the public. What's I like about his first Mecha Giant is the fact that its name is Grotesque Kans, and that Mecha Giant looks really grotesque. I will talk more about it once it's time for the mecha battle. More on Prince, he is ruthless and someone who doesn't care about humanity. This then lead us to Ryuta aka Blue Three getting some focus in this episode.

Even without the use of flashback scenes, we get how Ryuta was back when he was a teenager. He doesn't care about humanity that he just messed his life around until he realized what he's been doing to his life. It's a really nice scene in Ryuta's part and I just love that he still continues to believe that there is still a little bit of humanity left in Prince. Hopefully his belief in Prince's humanity will pay off, but there is a part of me that wants to see more of Prince as a main villain. I mean, if I will compare him to the Big Three, he is more menacing and just looking at him gives me an impression that all he wants is to get the job done.

Jun also has her own spotlight in this episode as we see more of her badassery when they are searching for Prince. It's hard to describe the scene in full detail since that scene is really epic, but that scene can be summed up in two words: pure badass. Even if she is quite a badass in this episode, she still needs saving because she ends up getting trapped in Prince's trap. This is the part of the episode were Ryuta realizes that Prince's human side is quite unreachable and decides to fight Prince and save Jun.

Now that Ryuta, no Blue Three is finally here, it is time for Prince to show us his Mecha Giant. The mecha fight in this episode is seriously fantastic. Grotesque Kans, like what its name suggest looks really grotesque. The machine's intestine parts are a bit creepy and it didn't help the fact that the Bio Robo can't easily destroy it because it reforms back to normal once you slice and dice it! Considering that this is one grotesque looking robot, I am pretty sure that the weakness has something to do with destroying its heart or something. But since we didn't see a centerpiece in its first explosion, I guess that's not the case.

To make matters a bit more interesting, just like Brain, Prince can also pilot a Mecha Giant... and this is when Blue Three starts to hesitate again. I mean, earlier it looks like that he is willing to fight Prince but now, he is hesitating to fight him all of a sudden! What's wrong with you man? When will you make up your mind? With Prince piloting Grotesque Kans, can our heroes defeat him?
