Lupin III vs. Detective Conan the Movie Debuts at #1 in the Japanese Box Office

Lupin III vs. Detective the Movie opened last weekend and is currently at the top of the Japanese box office!

The movie opened on 329 screens, sold 539,132 tickets and earned a total of 649,835,000 yen (about US$6,288,900) in its first two days. This is the second time Lupin and Conan starred side by side in one special/film, the first being the TV anime special that aired on NTV in 2009.

18th Detective Conan Anime Film Teaser Trailer

Here's the first teaser trailer of the 18th Detective Conan movie entitled "Detective Conan: Sniper From Another Dimension". Touted as "Conan's greatest crisis", this film revolves around a sniping incident case.


Even though someone was aiming a sniper rifle at Shuichi Akai, it was Sera who was shot in the chest. The people in Tokyo are afraid of getting involved in this dreadful sniping incident. Will Akai, who should be dead, be targeted again? And why was Sera targeted?

Directed by Kobun Shizuno and written by Kazunari Kouchi with music by Katsuo Ono, this movie will premiere on March 14, 2014 in Japan.

Lupin III vs. Detective Conan Commemorative Wristwatch Announced

Imperial Enterprise will release a Lupin III vs. Detective Conan the Movie commemorative wristwatch featuring both series named "Taiketsu no Toki/Face Off" (The time for confrontation).

The watch features the silhouettes of Lupin and Conan, a gunshot mark, and handcuffs on the face, and comes with message cards written by the original creators of the series, Monkey Punch (Lupin) and Gosho Aoyama (Conan).

Only 5000 of these watches will be produced and costs 29,300 yen. This watch is set for a February 2014 release.

18th Detective Conan Anime Film Announced

The first issue of next year's Shonen Sunday magazine announced the 18th Detective Conan film. Entitled "Detective Conan: Sniper From Another Dimension", it will premiere on March 14, 2014 in Japan.

The film revolves around a sniping incident case. Even though someone was aiming a sniper rifle at Shuichi Akai, it was Sera who was shot in the chest. The people in Tokyo are afraid of getting involved in this dreadful sniping incident. Will Akai, who should be dead, be targeted again? And why was Sera targeted? The film will also include appearances by Subaru Okiya and FBI agent Jodie Starling.

Touted as "Conan's greatest crisis", this movie is directed by Kobun Shizuno and is written by Kazunari Kouchi with music by Katsuo Ono. These three worked on various Detective Conan anime projects.

Lupin III vs. Detective Conan the Movie Full Length Trailer

Cinema Today posted the full trailer of the upcoming Lupin III vs. Detective Conan the Movie. The movie is set to premiere this December 7 in Japan.

"Cherry Sapphire," an illusive secret treasure that holds the key to the entire world, will bring the legendary thief Lupin III into a "head-to-head confrontation" with the genius Detective Conan.


Aside from the characters coming from the Lupin III and Detective Conan anime series, actor Seiyō Uchino (Jin) and actress Natsuna (Gantz) joins the cast as "Alan Smithee" (a mysterious man whose true identity is unknown) and Claudia (the manager of Emilio, a popular singer who is key to the plot), respectively.

As of Sunday (June 9th), Detective Conan: Private Eye in the Distant Sea is now the highest-grossing Detective Conan movie with 3,509,406,150 yen (about US$35,553,793) in box office revenue.

The movie sold 2,915,894 tickets in the 51 days since it opened on April 20. The opening weekend of the 2013 movie is 106.6% higher than 2012 Detective Conan movie. The title of the highest-grossing Detective Conan movie was once belonged to Detective Conan: The Raven Chaser, which earned approximately 3.5 billion (US$35.5 million).

There are two versions of the teaser trailer, the Conan Version that was shown in theatres and the Lupin Version that aired on television. The said movie will premiere this December 2013.

Detective Conan: Private Eye in the Distant Sea Movie Trailer

Cinema Today has just posted the latest trailer of the upcoming 2013 Detective Conan movie entitled, "Detective Conan: Private Eye in the Distant Sea". The movie will premiere this April 20.

The trailer features the movie's theme song, "One More Time" by Kazuyoshi Saitō. The movie is set on a state-of-the art Aegis vessel with the full cooperation of Japan's Ministry of Defense and Maritime Self-Defense Force.

Korean Boy Band Boyfriend Provides Latest Detective Conan Anime Theme

For the first time, a non-Japanese act will perform a theme music for Detective Conan! Korean boy band Boyfriend's 3rd Japanese single, "Hitmoi no Melody" will be used starting in February.

There are three versions of the CD, one of the versions feature a Detective Conan anime themed one, which comes with a special trading card. The single is set for a March 27 release.

Detective Conan, Crayon Shin-Chan Anime Uploaders Arrested

After the arrest made on One Piece manga uploaders, two men were recently arrested by the police for the suspicion of uploading Detective Conan manga, and Crayon Shin-Chan anime film via Share file-sharing software.

Last July 25th, the Tottori Prefectural Police arrested Hideo Yoshida, a 46-year-old male company employee in Tokyo's Itabashi Ward, under suspicion uploading the Detective Conan Vol.74 manga without the permission of the copyright holder, using the Share file-sharing software between May 3rd to 8th.

According to the authorities, the man is suspected to have been uploaded a total of 1,800 manga volumes without the permission of copyright owners in the past months. His reason: because of his love of manga.

In a different case on the same day, Ishikawa Prefectural Police and the Kanazawa West Police Department arrested a 28-year-old male company employee in Wajima, Ishikawa under suspicion of uploading the Crayon Shin-chan: Arashi o Yobu! Yūhi no Kasukabe Boys anime film via the same file-sharing software, without the permission of its copyright owner on April 11th.

The man had admitted his guilt, and said that he had used the said software to upload approximately 200 episodes of anime, downloaded via the Winny service.
