Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters 41 – A Thief Named Pink Buster

A new Messiah Card is found by a civilian and wants 1 billion yen for reward but a mysterious thief under the guise of Pink Buster also wants the Messiah Card for its value! With the card now on her possession, she wants Hiromu's help for a special job! But what is this special job?

If there is one thing that I am disappointed with this episode is that Pink Buster sounds like she is one one-shot character and we will not see her again after this episode. The reason why I am disappointed is because she is one awesome character that I want to see more of her in later episodes either as a recurring character or as an official member of the Energy Management Center. So why is she awesome? Just continue reading this episode review.

For starters, she defeated the Go-Busters purely with her wits and agility that I am not sure if there is a stunt double involved during the Pink Buster parkour stunt scenes. What's more, she doesn't have any weapon and only a master of unarmed combat, which makes her more awesome as a character! Another thing to praise about Pink Buster is her ability to quickly change costumes that she is able to escape Red Buster without him noticing that she is gone!

As for Pink Buster, based on her civilian clothing and her car, she is obviously rich, which bothered me for a bit. I mean, why she is stealing items from other people if she is this rich? Back at the EMC base, we learn more about Pink Buster that she is more than just your average thief; she only steals to those goods with cultural value from the people who deserve it. Kinda like Robin Hood where he stills the corrupt and gives it to the poor. What bothered me with her modus operandi is that they never explained the purpose on why she started stealing. Will she give it to the less fortunate or keep it?

Suddenly, the signal for an Enetron discharge is detected and the Go-Busters proceed to the scene only to meet a gentleman thief named Louperoid and the data that he is gathering right now is human greed based on what happened to one of his victims as he is now giving away his expensive items to the Go-Busters! Though I am fine with it since he deserves it, but why is he after with human greed this time?

While the Go-Busters are chasing the Louperoid that escaped, Hiromu is then approached by Pink Buster and it seems that she still has the Messiah Card. Because I got a good look on Louperoid and since he has a number 10 in his back and 10 is the number of the Messiah Card that they are looking, obviously the card that she is holding is a fake. This is when the fun begins in this episode; Pink Buster uses her feminine wiles and grabbed Hiromu's Morphin' Brace without him noticing it! I still find it funny that he didn't use his super speed to get his Brace. I guess his super speed has this set speed that he can't adjust and using it might be a disadvantage in this situation.

Because of this, he has no choice but to follow Pink Buster or should I say, Reika around for her special mission. The fact that a thief told you her real name can only mean one thing; she has a liking on you that’s why she can entrust you her secret identity On their special mission, the first thing I notice is that Reika is acting not like her thief self as she just stares and admire the jewels she is looking at a nearby jewelry store while looking on both sides after pulling this act. I mean, she can just steal it if she wants too or buy it but nope, she just left the jewelry on the counter and leave along with Hiromu who acts like her butler.

Her actions become a lot clearer as the episode progressed. Though it took Hiromu some time to figure out that the card Reika is holding is a fake one, he also deduced that the reason why she is just staring at the jewels is to lure the Louperoid. This is when Reika tells us the origins of the Louperoid, to put it simply, even though she likes stealing stuff, she doesn't want innocent people to get involve with her crime. Seeing that the action of stealing the card and have a magnifying glass near it can turn selfish people into like that made her guilty and wants to fix this.

Though the plan didn't really lure the Louperoid like what she expected, well at least the Louperoid popped out during the time the two are arguing! The team-up between Red and Pink Buster is fun to watch. So fun that I forget about Enter during this entire episode! While this is all happening, the enemy Megazord appeared and just like Louperoid, he can also steal items and in this case, it steals Go-Buster Hercules' guns!

Back to Red Buster, we saw more his teamwork with Pink Buster that at one point, he protected gunshots for her! The other two Go-Busters arrived and before they will finish the Louperoid, Red Buster requested Pink Buster to stop stealing, which she complied before leaving. Much to my surprise, we don't have the Powered Custom stock footage scene in this episode. This means that the series is reaching its climax and that they have enough budget for them to do more real time Powered Custom transformation sequences.

Another thing that surprised me in this episode is that the 2nd opening theme is playing during the fight and that they dropped the split-screen thing with the Lio Blaster when Red Buster performs the finisher. As for the giant fight, Beet and Stag Busters defeated the enemy Megazord with a little help from Li-Oh. It's been a while since I saw this guy popping out of random and do some cat-like moves.

The episode ends with Hiromu receiving a letter coming from Reika that she will continue stealing because there is one thing worth stealing and that is Hiromu's heart. All I can say is I knew it. I really knew it. I mean, from all the Busters that is chasing the Louperoid, why pick Hiromu? This becomes clearer when she sent that letter to Hiromu. Now you know why I want to see more of Pink Buster in later episodes! One final thing to note is that Jin starts to analyze the data that Enter is gathering thanks to the Messiah Cards that he threw. Guess this will be a vital point later in the series.
