Ultraman Series Maintains Guinness World Record for 12 Years


The classic tokusatsu hero franchise, Ultraman was recently awarded by the Guinness Book of World Records for maintaining its previous record as the "TV series having the most number of spin-offs" for 12 years now! The series is running for 47 years now, with Ultraman Ginga as its latest incarnation of the franchise.

The series first received the Guinness World Record title back in 2001 and is able to maintain the record since then. In the 2014 edition of the popular World Record book, it is revealed that the show has a total of 27 spin-offs, which excludes remakes, one-off specials, summaries and home video releases.


Present in the rewarding ceremony is actor Takuya Negishi who plays Hikaru Raido aka Ultraman Ginga, Ultraman 80, the original Ultraman, Ultra Seven, Ultraman Zero and Ultraman Tiga. Presenting the award is Guinness employee, Carlos Martinez, which he gave to the original Ultraman.
