Pacific Rim is a love letter to Japanese monster movies, super robot anime and Japanese superhero shows and it seems that the said love letter has just reached some of Japan's prominent creators!

Metal Gear and Zone of Enders creator Hideo Kojima posted his thoughts about the film via Twitter this week. Here's an excerpt from one of his tweets about the movie:

Director Guillermo del Toro offers this spectacular vision of massive kaijus and robots in PACIFIC RIM. This film is not simply a film to be respected, but most importantly, it let us dream the future of entertainment movies. Pacific Rim is the ultimate otaku film that all of us had always been waiting for. Who are you, if you are Japanese and won't watch this?

Go Nagai of Mazinger Z fame said, "I was overwhelmed by the intense kaijū vs. giant robot action. It was fun!" Yoshiyuki Sadamoto (Neon Genesis Evangelion's character designer) compared the film to a satisfying feast since the movie has the best prime cuts from Japanese tokusatsu and anime works.

Game designer Fumito Ueda (Ico, Shadow of the Colossus) was a bit nostalgic about the film as the film's battle scenes reminded him of the Japanese tokusatsu films he watched as a child.

Pacific Rim takes place is about the future war between humans piloting giant robots called "Jaegers" and giant monsters called "Kaiju" that rose from a portal in the Pacific Ocean and have killed millions of lives.

Pacific Rim premieres this July 12th in the U.S. and in August 8th in Japan.
