Players to Receive a Special Celebi After Downloading Pokémon Bank

The Pokémon Company International announced that if you downloaded the new Pokémon Bank app for the Nintendo 3DS, you will get the Mythical Time Travel Pokémon Celebi!

This special gift for Pokémon X and Pokémon Y can be acquired if you downloaded Pokémon Bank anytime between December 27, 2013, and September 30, 2014. This special Celebi comes with the attack called "Hold Back", a move that you can't learn from normal gameplay.


Hold Back is a move that allows players to weaken a target with certainty and is very useful in capturing Pokémon. In addition, this Celebi also knows the moves Recover, Heal Bell, and Safeguard.

Players will need to use the Pokémon Link feature in their Pokémon X or Pokémon Y game to receive Celebi. After you have received your Celebi gift within Pokémon Bank, select Pokémon Link, and Celebi will be sent to your PC Box in your Pokémon X or Pokémon Y game.

Pokémon XY: Cocoon of Destruction Anime Film Teaser Trailer

The teaser trailer of the new Pokémon anime film is finally revealed! Entitled "Pokémon XY: Cocoon of Destruction", the film will premiere in Japan this July 19, 2014.


Proclaimed that like the games, "the films are entering a new dimension!" The movie will feature the Legendary Pokémon Xerneas and Yvetal and Mega Evolutions. As expected, Ash and the friends he met in the Kalos region namely Clemont, Bonnie and Serena are expected to appear in this film.

Director Kunihiko Yuyama returns for this film. Lastly, the Pokémon short entitled "Pikachu, What's This Key For?" is also part of this film.

Pokémon Bank & Poké Transporter App Trailer

Pokémon Company International released the trailer of their new Pokémon Bank service for Pokémon X & Pokémon Y, which will launch on December 27. The video revealed the various features of this service.

With this feature, players can deposit, withdraw, and manage up to 3,000 Pokémon in private boxes online through an internet connection. Transfer Pokémon from multiple copies of Pokémon X & Pokémon Y, including downloadable versions, using one Nintendo 3DS system.


In addition, you can transfer Pokémon from Pokémon Black, Pokémon White, Pokémon Black 2, and Pokémon White 2 to Pokémon X and Pokémon Y using the Poké Transporter, a linked application received when you download Pokémon Bank.

Players who download this new service between between December 27, 2013 and January 31, 2014 will receive a complimentary trial pass within the application, which will let them experience Pokémon Bank and Poké Transporter at no charge for 30 days. After this time period, the Pokémon Bank service will cost $4.99 per year.

Pokémon X & Y Super Music Collection Now Available on iTunes

The Pokémon Company International has released the Pokémon X & Pokémon Y: Super Music Collection on iTunes! This album contains songs featured in Pokémon X & Pokémon Y.

The album has more than 200 songs and 3.5 hours of music featured in the games. In addition, the album also includes a battle game music track from the Pokémon Origins anime special. The album also features five bonus tracks from Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue from the original composer, GAME FREAK's Shota Kageyama.

This is the first time a Pokémon soundtrack available on iTunes and fans can expect more of these in 2014, including the soundtracks of:

• Pokémon FireRed and Pokémon LeafGreen
• Pokémon HeartGold and Pokémon SoulSilver
• Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire

Over 10 Million Pokémon Have Been Traded in Pokémon X & Y

Game Freak directory Junichi Masuda revealed in the "Salon del Manga de Barcelona" convention something impressive about Pokémon X & Pokémon Y when it comes to trades.

Masuda revealed that over 10 million Pokémon have been exchanged/traded in both Pokémon X & Pokémon Y. The fans responded the announcement with a strong ovation for Masuda.

Pokémon Designer Ken Sugimori Talks About 7th Generation

Pokémon designer Ken Sugimori commented in an interview for a magazine some plans for the seventh generation of Pokémon games, which can be summed up in one word, "simplicity".

He commented that they will not add more layers of complexity, but rather revert back to simplicity by using elements found in Pokémon Red and Green (or Blue). In addition, Sugimori commented that Pokémon designs could be simplified as well.

He also revealed the challenge in designing new Pokémon, in which every Pokémon that appears in every game must be brand new. This is why that after they already made Pokémon designs inspired on common animals, they make designs inspired by wild animals.

Lastly, he revealed that his favorite Pokémon of all time is Gengar.

New Pikachu Game is a Detective Game!

The theme of the new Pikachu game is finally revealed! This new Pikachu game is a detective game and is expected to be released in 2015.

The game is said to be developed for 2 years and in this game is set to feature a Blue Pikachu, which talks. The Pikachu is being controlled via motion capture and facial recognition.

Lastly, a rare Pikachu is said to be the enemy within the game but they can't see people liking it.

Pokémon Developers Talked On the Possibility of Paid DLC in Pokémon Games

We have previously reported about Pokémon having DLC in which Game Freak director Junichi Masuda revealed that Pokémon games will not have it.

In a recent 4Gamer interview, Pokémon art director Ken Sugimori and director Tatsuya Watanabe talked more about paid DLC in the Pokémon games or other means that involve real life currency purchase.

"When it comes to business, the one thing I've always said 'no!' to is 'the act of buying Pokémon with money,'" says Sugimori. "That is something that has been said since the days [Satoshi] Tajiri was completely involved in everything."

The reason why they are against it is because it could "ruin the worldview" of Pokémon and that they don't simply commercialize the said brand. In short, if they will sell a Pokémon for 100 yen, it should be worthy of that 100 yen you spend. Even if that's the case, they are open to a possibility to see Pokémon available for purchase in the future... if they have a good idea for it.

Lastly, we also learned on why they are giving away legendary Pokémon for fans who watched the Pokémon movies in theaters. To sum up the reason behind it, they find it fun and want to give their customers a "new experience" after seeing the legendary Pokémon in action on the big screen.

Here's A Sneak Peek on the New Pikachu Game

NHK recently gave fans a look on the new Pokémon game featuring Pikachu. The only details about the new game is that it is using "playfulness" as a weapon to take on the world.

The sneak peek for the game gives us a glimpse at what appears to be someone holding a magnifying glass to look at Pikachu. In addition, we learned that it seems that motion capture is used to control Pikachu's facial expression.

Lastly, fans were given a glimpse at the development of this "top secret" Pokémon, making this the first time a development of a Pokémon title will be shown to the public.

Pokémon the Movie: Genesect and the Legend Awakened to Premiere in the Philippines

K-Zone Philippines reports that the latest Pokémon movie, Pokémon the Movie: Genesect and the Legend Awakened will premiere in the Philippines this November 13th at SM Cinemas!


It's an all-new Pokémon adventure! The rage of a mysterious Pokémon Genesect is about to be unleashed upon the city, and the Legendary Mewtwo is joining the fight! Who is the friend and who is the foe?

Aside from the main feature film, a Pokémon short called "Eevee and Friends" will premiere as well, which features the latest Eevee evolution, Sylveon! Lastly, those who attended the movie screening will get a paper red Genesect figure.

Xerneas to Appear in Super Smash Bros. For 3DS & Wii U

The official Super Smash Bros. website posted a new screenshot for the upcoming Nintendo 3DS and Wii U game, which features a certain Pokémon from Pokémon X.

For those who can't recognize the horns in the picture, it's Xerneas, the Legendary Pokémon of Pokémon X. Director Masahiro Sakurai didn't reveal if Xerneas is a playable character or one of the random Pokémon that will pop out once you throw a Pokéball in the game.

Pokémon X & Y Sold More Than 4 Million Units Worldwide in Two Days!

Pokémon X and Pokémon Y was the first Pokémon game that was released simultaneously worldwide so it is expected that it will equal to high sales. So how much the game earned in it's opening weekend?

The games sold more than 4 million units across Japan, Europe and the Americas. Combining and comparing regional data for previous launches, X & Y would be the fastest-selling Nintendo 3DS game of all time and did better than Black 2 & White 2 by more than 70%.

Game Freak's Masuda: Pokémon Games Will Not Have DLC

Game Freak director Junichi Masuda revealed in an interview with VG247 that the Pokémon games will not have downloadable content (DLC) in any form.

And I quote:

We like the idea that through Pokémon people can make conversation or you can become friends and that Pokémon can be a safe environment for that. In terms of DLC specifically, I don't know what shape DLC can take in the future. But at the moment I don't feel it's a safe enough mode – so to speak – appropriate for Pokémon.

There's no download content or microtransaction content developed specifically for Pokémon X & Y. We've not come up with any ideas on that yet. I like the idea that Pokémon can be enjoyed with just one piece of software. You buy the game and it can be enjoyed just with that one software that you buy. That’s a key point for Game Freak.

The latest Pokémon game, Pokémon X and Y was released worldwide last October 12 in both retail and via the Nintendo eShop.

Nintendo President Talks About the Challenge in Bringing Pokémon Overseas

In the B Dash Camp that happened in Osaka, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata talked about Nintendo and some interesting bits about Pokémon.

Iwata revealed the challenge they faced when they tried to bring Pokémon overseas and that includes if Americans can accept cute monsters. He revealed.

Will America accept cute monsters? No, they said. Some people even recommended to make Pikachu more muscular. If we followed their advice Pokemon would never have been the success that it was. Brain Training software (Brain Age) became a hit in Japan, and I proposed that we sell it globally. And even as I said that as the president, no one listened.

New Pokémon Game Based on Pikachu is in the Works

In a recent producer's summary on NHK, it is revealed that a new Pokémon based on Pikachu is in the works!

Pokémon producer and CEO of The Pokémon Company Tsunekazu Ishihara revealed that the development of the new Pikachu game began this summer. Even though Pikachu is one popular Pokémon, they still fear if they don't do a good job, it could possibly hurt the popularity of the said Pokémon.

According to the producer, the game will be about a boy who takes on the world using "playfulness" as a weapon.

Pokémon Bank Annual Service Cost Revealed

More info about the new Pokémon Bank downloadable app for the Nintendo 3DS was posted in the Pokémon X and Pokémon Y official website. This new service allows fans to store their Pokémon that they capture online.

This paid service will be free for the first month, if you download and use the app (which includes obtaining the free pass) by January 31, 2014. It will give you access to 100 storage boxes of your own, enabling you to store up to 3,000 Pokémon (30 Pokémon per box).

When you download the Pokémon Bank app, players can also download another app called Poké Transporter. This app allows players to transfer Pokémon from Pokémon Black/White and Black 2/White 2 to Pokémon Bank, by inserting the cartridges of those respective games into your 3DS.

Because of this, once the Pokémon for those games are transferred to the Bank, they can never be transferred back to their previous games. In addition, the Transporter is an app that works together with the Bank. Furthermore, Pokémon created or modified via illegal means will not work in the two apps.

The Pokémon Bank and Pokémon Transporter app service will cost $4.99 per year and is intended to support long-term management and maintenance of the service. This service will launch in the U.S. this December 27th.

Pokémon X & Y Received 1.26 Million Pre-Orders

Media Create reported that Pokémon X and Pokémon Y received 1.26 million pre-orders in Japan! 2 months ago, it was reported that the game already topped the pre-sales charts.

This feat set a new record for most pre-orders for a Nintendo 3DS title, topping Monster Hunter 4's 1.17 million. The 1.26-million figure does not include the set pack download.
