Dragon Ball 2013 Film Full Teaser Posted

Finally, a little update on the upcoming Dragon Ball Z anime film! The official website began streaming the movie's full teaser. Along with that, an English page was opened for international visitors.

The teaser was similar to the one that aired from morning show Mezamashi Terebi, difference is, this time, it is now of high quality.


The new film will took place during the manga's "lost decade", after the final battle against Majin-Buu (Chapter 517: A Happy Ending... And Then...), and before the 10 year timeskip (Chapter 518: 10 Years After). The film is produced by Fox International Productions Japan Shueisha, Fuji TV, Toei Animation, Bandai, and Bandai Namco Games.

According to reports, the Dragonball2013.com already received hits from 178 countries, since opening last July! The top country visiting the website after Japan was the USA followed by Brazil, Mexico, France, Chile, Argentina, Peru, Spain, and the United Kingdom!

Also present in the site is the English translation of author Akira Toriyama's original message from Weekly Shonen Jump:


The film will be directed by Masahiro Hosoda (Dragon Ball Z episode director) at TOEI, and written by Yuusuke Watanabe (20th Century Boys, Gantz), with Tadayoshi Yamamuro (Dragon Ball: The Path to Power, Beet the Vandel Buster) acting as the lead animation director.

The new Dragon Ball Z film will be slated for March 30th, 2013 release. Still no word for an international release.

Fairy Tail the Movie: Maiden of the Phoenix Special Preview

Here is the special opening of the magic-themed anime, Fairy Tail, featuring the scenes from the upcoming film, “Fairy Tail the Movie: The Maiden of the Phoenix,” opening this August 18th in Japan.


“Fairy Tail the Movie: The Maiden of the Phoenix” revolves around a mysterious girl named Éclair, who is suffering from a partial memory loss. She must deliver two Phoenix Stones somewhere, which may cause the collapse of the magical world. Natsu, Lucy, and the rest of the Fairy Tail guild are caught up in the intrigue.

Original author Hiro Mashima, is in charge of story planning and visual design for the film, as well as drafting the guest character designs and image concept art. Director Masaya Fujimori (You Are Umasou), and scriptwriter Masashi Sogo (Fairy Tail, Bleach, Rurouni Kenshin) are included in the project.

Rurouni Kenshin Film Full Trailer Streamed

The official YouTube Channel for the upcoming Rurouni Kenshin live action film began streaming the live action movie's full trailer. The trailer is also available in four different languages.

The latest trailer features the theme song “The Beginning” by the Japanese rock band ONE OK ROCK.


The film stars Takeru Satoh (Kamen Rider Den-O) as Kenshin Himura, Emi Takei (Taira no Kiyomori, Aysuko Match!) as Kaoru Kamiya, Yuu Aoi (Hana and Alice, Honey and Clover) will play Megumi Takani, with Munetaka Aoki (The Girl Who Leapt Through Time) as Sanosuke Sagara, and Taketo Tanaka will take on the role of Yahiko Myōjin aka Yoshi.

Additional cast includes Koji Kikkawa (Kamen Rider W) will play as Jine Udo, Yosuke Eguchi as Hajime Saitō, and Teruyuki Kagawa as Kanryū Takeda.

Rurouni Kenshin follows the story of a fictional assassin named Himura Kenshin, from the Bakumatsu who becomes a wanderer, offering protection and aid to those in need as atonement for the murders he once committed as an assassin.

Rurouni Kenshin live action film premieres August 25th.

AnoHana Anime Film Slated Next Summer

It had been announced that the drama anime series Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day will get a theatrical film next Summer. The film will retell the story in Menma's point of view.

AnoHana tells the story of a group of six childhood friends drift apart after Menma dies in an accident. Ten years later, Jinta has withdrawn from society and lives as a recluse. One summer day, the ghost of an older looking Menma appears before him and asks to have a wish granted, reasoning that she cannot pass on into the afterlife until it is fulfilled.

One Piece Film Z Additional Cast Revealed

The additional cast for the upcoming “One Piece Film Z” had been revealed! Both of them are Devil Fruit users and will play as the crewmates of former Marine Admiral, Z (read as "zetto").

Singer/actress Ryoko Shinohara (Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie) will play the role of Ain, the "The Sexy Scientist." She has the ability of the Modo Modo Devil Fruit, which grants her the ability to return the age of anyone and anything to a younger age.


Actor Teruyuki Kagawa (Rurouni Kenshin, Warau Iemon) as "the navy Ninja" Bins. He is a user of the Mosa Mosa Devil Fruit, which grants the user an ability to quicken the pace of plant growth (unknown if applies to only plants) and control them to his desire.


One Piece Film Z will be set after the events on the Fishman Island Arc, hence the first movie taking place in the New World part of the Grand Line. Osamu Suzuki will serve as the script writer, and Tatsuya Nagamine will be the director.

The film opens on Japanese theaters this December 15th.

009 Re:Cyborg Film Short Trailer Posted

The latest 30-second promotional video for the upcoming 3D film adaptation of Shotaro Ishinomori's popular classic manga, 009 Re:Cyborg started streaming on director Kenji Kamiyama's official website.

The promo features the short introduction of the nine cyborgs manifesting their abilities. This also confirms that Mamoru Miyano (Ultraman Zero, Star Driver) will be the voice of Cyborg 009, Joe Shimamura.


Kenji Kamiyama is both directing and scripting the story of the new film, which will be set in the year 2013, which will act as a sequel to the original manga.

Production I.G and SANZIGEN Animation Studio are co-producing the project, and the Japanese film distributor T-Joy will release the film. It will simultaneously screen in five Asian countries including Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, and South Korea.

009 Re:Cyborg will premier on October 27th in both 2D and 3D.

Nana to Kaoru 2 Live Action Film Trailer

Cinema Today began streaming the full trailer of the second live action film adaptation of Ryuta Amazume's erotic romantic comedy manga, “Nana to Kaoru 2.” The cast is led by Rakuto Tochihara, who is known for his Kamen Rider Hibiki role as Asumu.

The second film features a different lead female. Miku Aono replaces Maho Nagase as Nana. Similar to the first, Atsushi Shimizu writes and directs, with Mitsuru Ohshima producing the latest installment.


Nana to Kaoru follows the story of a 17-year-old boy named Kaoru, who had an S&M fetish. He has always dreamt about an SM relationship with his childhood friend Nana. The two of them start engaging in so-called "breathers", which helps Nana relieve stress.

Nana to Kaoru 2 will screen at the Eurospace theater in Tokyo's Shibuya ward from September 8th to 21st.

Persona 3 Anime Film Teaser Streamed

The first teaser of the upcoming upcoming theatrical film adaptation of Shin Megami Tensei Persona 3 began streaming online! This was the very same teaser at the end of the credits of Persona 4: The Animation film.


Persona 3 follows the story of a male high-school student who joins the Specialized Extracurricular Execution Squad (SEES), a group of students investigating the Dark Hour, a time period between one day and the next that few people are aware of.

Release date of Shin Megami Tensei Person 3 movie is yet to be revealed.

Hideaki Anno's Ultraman Short Film Returns to DVD

It was recently announced on Studio Khara's official Evangelion website that Hideaki Anno's (Neon Genesis Evangelion) student tokusatsu film “Daiconfilm's Return of Ultraman” will be released on DVD.

The home video release is to commemorate the The Museum of Contemporary Art in Tokyo's Curator Hideaki Anno's Special Effects Museum exhibition.

This independently-produced movie back in 1983 and lasts for 28-minutes, will be included on DVD alongside a 16-minute making-of special as well as various production materials and interviews. The release itself is a reissue of Gainax's 2001 release of the film, and will cost 7140 yen (about US$91).

Naruto: Road to Ninja Film Earns $3.8 Million on Opening Weekend

It has been revealed that the ninth Naruto film, “Naruto the Movie: Road to Ninja” had been on the third spot of the Japanese Box Office for the weekend of July 28th–29th. Not only that, the film reached much greater heights!

Naruto the Movie: Road to Ninja had earned an estimated $3.8 million USD. With that, it also got included in the 10th spot of the Top 10 World Box Office Ranking for the opening weekend, just below “Umizaru 4,” with $5.2 million USD.


To celebrate the Naruto anime’s 10th anniversary, the film features a story and character designs personally conceived by the creator of the manga, Masashi Kishimoto.

The Naruto and Sakura are transported from the Hidden Leaf Village to an alternate reality created by the Masked Man’s genjutsu. “Naruto Shippuden the Movie: Road to Ninja” premiered last July 28th.

Blue Exorcist Film First Trailer Streamed

As reported last week, supernatural manga and anime Blue Exorcist will get its first anime film. Just recently, the official website began streaming the film's first trailer.


Blue Exorcist The Movie will be distributed by TOHO and will premiere on Japanese theaters on December 28th. 30,000 advance tickets will go on sale on August 25th with a set of three postcards.

Blue Exorcist follows the story of Rin Okumura, the son of Satan, the strongest of all demons. Witnessing Shiro dying to protect him, he managed to draw the demon-slaying blade Kurikara. From there on, Rin gains permanent demonic features and the power to ignite himself into blue flames.

Naruto: Road to Ninja Film TV Ads Posted

The official website for the Naruto films began streaming three new 16-second promotional videos for the upcoming 9th anime film, “Naruto the Movie: Road to Ninja.”

Heard in the first TV ad is the film's theme song, “Sore de wa, Mata Ashita” (Well Then, See You Tomorrow) by Japanese rock band Asian Kung-Fu Generation.




The last ad promotes the limited edition 34 minutes original DVD called "Motion Comic NARUTO" that will be given away to the first 1.5 million moviegoers. It features a motion comic to tell a reconstructed story with CG-representations of the original manga art works.

To celebrate the Naruto anime’s 10th anniversary, the film features a story and character designs personally conceived by the creator of the manga, Masashi Kishimoto.

Space Ironmen Vehicles, New Power Dizers Revealed

In the recently released Japanese magazines, new information for the upcoming “Kamen Rider Fourze the Movie: It's Space Time, Everyone!” centering around the new vehicles to debut in the film.

First up is the Space Ironmen Ultimate Form XVII's robot form, the XVII One Seven Formation. As seen in the image above, the mecha have the number "17" on its chest, as it's a tribute to the Daitetsujin 17 tokusatsu series. Also seen are the mecha form of the Space Ironmen. Grand Car is the alternate form of Grandain, while Skydain transforms into Sky Jet.

Next up is the finishing blow of Kamen Rider Fourze Meteor Fusion States, the “Rider Fusion Drill Kick.” It says that this kick is not only a "special move" but a "certain kill!"


Lastly, here's the scan of the two new Power Dizers, the J.K. Dizer and the Queen Dizer, to be piloted by J.K. and Miu in the film, respectively. Also seen in the last scan are the students who previously turned into Zodiarts.

“Kamen Rider Fourze the Movie: It's Space Time, Everyone!” premieres this August 4th.

Novels to Sing for 1st Tiger & Bunny Film

Japanese band Novels announced that their second single, to be entitled “Earth Diver,” will be used as the opening theme of the upcoming compilation film, “Tiger & Bunny THE MOVIE -The Beginning-.”

Their debut single “Missing Link,” was the second opening theme of the original Tiger & Bunny TV series. According to the band's frontman, Mao Takeuchi, the lyrics of their new song were written with Tiger & Bunny's Wild Tiger aka Kotetsu T. Kaburagi in mind, taking as its theme the idea of time.

“Tiger & Bunny THE MOVIE -The Beginning-” is a retelling of the TV anime, but not just cover the same story content as the previous television anime series, but also untold, behind-the-scenes stories. The movie opens this September 22nd.

009 Re:Cyborg Pepsi NEX Zero Campaign

PH9 Official YouTube Channel began streaming the two latest Pepsi NEX Zero advertisements featuring the characters from upcoming 3D film adaptation of popular classic manga, Cyborg 009 by Shotaro Ishinomori, 009 Re:Cyborg.

Battle Royale US Television Adaptation Coming Soon?

The Los Angeles Times newspaper have reported that The CW television network is currently in talks to acquire the rights for a US adaptation of Koushun Takami's popular survival novel, Battle Royale.

Although the talks are preliminary, the network has reportedly spoken with the title's Hollywood representatives about potentially adapting and expanding the novel into an hour long dramatic series.

Even though producer Roy Lee noted that as early as 2006, he and Neal H. Moritz were proposing an American film adaptation of the novel, but it was halted after the Virginia Tech shootings.

Due to its similarities in theme, the production of a US adaptation was again halted after the release of Hunger Games novel in 2008. Lee commented, “Audiences would see it as just a copy of Hunger Games — most of them wouldn't know that Battle Royale came first. It's unfair, but that's reality.”

So far, "there is no deal in place." CW needs to get the approval of Takami, which according to Japanese law must be secured before any remake moves forward.

Battle Royale tells of school-children who are forced to fight each other to death. Under the guise of a "study trip", a group of students are gassed on a bus and brought on an isolated island, where the students are required to fight the other members of their class to the death, with only the surviving student being declared the winner.
