Lyu: Lyu's Latest Music Video Features Cyborg 009 U.S. Remake Comic Book Panels


The official music video of Lyu:Lyu's latest single, "Seeds" features some panels coming from the American comic book remake of the classic Shotaro Ishinomori manga Cyborg 009.


The remake, written by F.J. DeSanto and Bradley Cramp and illustrated by Marcus follows the adventures of 9 cyborgs who escaped the evil Black Ghost organization and together, they will stop the organization's goal to start the next world war.

Archaia Entertainment is set to release a graphic novel collection of the comic on September 23rd.

Cyborg 009 Final Manga Story Arc Begins


Shogakukan's Club Sunday free online manga website started hosting the Cyborg 009's final story arc. The 19th chapter of the Cyborg 009 Kanketsu-Hen conclusion God's War manga called "Final Arc: The Convening of Soldiers" will be available on the website until October 3.

The said story arc will conclude the Cyborg 009 manga, 15 years after the death of the manga's creator, Shotaro Ishinomori. Making this conclusion is possible is his son, Jo Onodera (Kamen Rider Kuuga) who outlined the story based on the notes his father left.

Masato Hayase (Kikaider), a former assistant of Ishinomori, and Sugar Satō have drawn the new manga with Ishinomori's former studio Ishimori Productions.

No Plans for a 009 Re:Cyborg Movie Sequel


Director Kenji Kamiya revealed that there are no plans to do a sequel for his 009 Re:Cyborg anime film, but he has a concept for one in his head.

009 Re:Cyborg is a movie based on Shotaro Ishinomori's classic manga series called "Cyborg 009". The movie is set for a Blu-ray and DVD release this May 22. The Blu-ray and DVD comes with English subtitles.

009 Re:Cyborg Blu-ray & DVD Release to Include English Subs


It was announced that the May 22 Blu-ray and DVD release of 009 Re:Cyborg in Japan will include English and Japanese subtitles.

The regular Blu-ray edition costs 6,090 yen (about US$64) and includes the 2D version of the film. Extras include "009 RE: CYBORG Special Prologue" teaser and full trailers, two sets of audio commentaries (one by director Kenji Kamiyama, animation director Daisuke Suzuki, and Ryuichi Kuwajima and another one with Kamiyama, composer Kenji Kawai, and Kuwajima), and a booklet.

In addition, the deluxe Blu-ray Box edition costs 10,290 yen (US$108) will add a stereoscopic 3D version of the film, an exclusive comic, and two making-of books. The DVD edition costs 5,040 yen (US$53) with the prologue, trailers, commentaries, and booklet.

Ishinomori Manga Meseum Reopens!


Last November 17 marks the reopening of the Ishinomori Mangattan Museum located in Ishimaki City in other of the King of Manga, Shotaro Ishinomori. The reopening ceremony is free and open to the public.

The place was devasted by the 2011 great tsunami that destroyed the museum yet statues of Kamen Rider 1 and AkaRanger are still standing after the disaster unscathed.


Above is a video features that talks about the reopening of the museum to the public that features a lot of classic Ishinomori heroes and a couple of Kamen Riders, namely Rider 1, Den-O, OOO, Fourze and Wizard.

009 Re:Cyborg Film Short Trailer Posted

009 Re:Cyborg Film Short Trailer Streamed
The latest 30-second promotional video for the upcoming 3D film adaptation of Shotaro Ishinomori's popular classic manga, 009 Re:Cyborg started streaming on director Kenji Kamiyama's official website.

The promo features the short introduction of the nine cyborgs manifesting their abilities. This also confirms that Mamoru Miyano (Ultraman Zero, Star Driver) will be the voice of Cyborg 009, Joe Shimamura.


Kenji Kamiyama is both directing and scripting the story of the new film, which will be set in the year 2013, which will act as a sequel to the original manga.

Production I.G and SANZIGEN Animation Studio are co-producing the project, and the Japanese film distributor T-Joy will release the film. It will simultaneously screen in five Asian countries including Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, and South Korea.

009 Re:Cyborg will premier on October 27th in both 2D and 3D.

PH9 Official YouTube Channel began streaming the two latest Pepsi NEX Zero advertisements featuring the characters from upcoming 3D film adaptation of popular classic manga, Cyborg 009 by Shotaro Ishinomori, 009 Re:Cyborg.

Production I.G and SANZIGEN Animation Studio are co-producing the project, and the Japanese film distributor T-Joy will release the film. Kenji Kamiyama is both directing and scripting the story of the new film, which will be set in the year 2013. He also revealed that the film will act as a sequel to the original manga.



It was previously confirmed by producer Tomohiko Ishii that the film will simultaneously screen in five Asian countries including Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, and South Korea.

Cyborg 009 Movie in the Works

The Hollywood Reporter blog had reported that Ishimori Productions is planning on releasing Shotaro Ishinomori's hit manga, Cyborg 009 into a full feature film, "taking the property to the big-screen and a transmedia level". Live-action or anime, is yet to be revealed.

Writer-producer F.J. DeSanto will act as a producer on the feature and other potential Ishimori projects. No additional details regarding the film have been confirmed as of writing.

In another news, DeSanto, along with Bradley Cramp are currently writing the story for a new graphic novel that serves as the re-imagination of the classic manga Cyborg 009 "from a modern, Western aesthetic." Art will be handled by Marcus To (Red Robin).

The creative team, have spent the last six months developing the new book by taking the important elements of the original manga and presenting a fresh and modern story that can appeal to a worldwide audience.

DeSanto commented:
“With the world in love with superheroes and superhero movies, the timing is perfect for a re-introduction of Ishinomori’s creations. [...] The book was created during the Cold War and its themes of teamwork and global co-operation still resonate in today’s culture and climate. The book was clearly ahead of its time.”
The new Cyborg 009 graphic novel will be published by Archaia Publishing, teaming up with Ishimori Production Inc., and slated to be released around Comic-Con 2013.

In the original Cyborg 009 manga, the secret Black Ghost organization transforms nine unsuspecting humans into cyborgs. However, the nine cyborgs turn on their masters and protect the rest of humanity from Black Ghost's plans for world war.

On a presentation last May 29th, director and writer Kenji Kamiyama had revealed that the upcoming 009 Re:Cyborg will be a sequel to the original manga by Shotaro Ishinomori.

In this presentation by Kenji Kamiyama on Osaka, he revealed that the movie depicts “what happens after” the events of Cyborg 009 manga. He also showed the production process on screen, and personally promoted the movie.

It was previously confirmed by producer Tomohiko Ishii that the film will simultaneously screen in five Asian countries including Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, and South Korea.
