U.S. Adult Swim's Toonami Will Air 4 Anime Films this December

The official Adult Swim's Toonami Tumblr account announced the anime films that will run on the said anime block this December. The films are:

December 07: Akira
December 14: Summer Wars
December 21: Fullmetal Alchemist: The Movie - Conqueror of Shamballa
December 28: Trigun: Badlands Rumble

It was previously reported that Naruto will stop airing on Toonami to give way for the movies that will air on the block. The series returns next year as Naruto Shippuden, which will air alongside with Space Dandy.

Katsuhiro Otomo Will Not Make An Akira 2

Manga artist and anime director Katsuhiro Otomo (Akira) recently made an appearance in the ZIP! talk show to promote his latest anime film called Short Peace. During that time, he was asked if he will make an Akira 2.

He revealed, "Every time I submit a new project, it is refused in most cases. I know they have been expecting me to make Akira 2. But I won't do that. I really want to create something new. It takes a long time to finish one project, at least one or two years. If I have to spend so much time, I want to challenge a new thing."

In addition, in the press conference of Short Peace's premiere, Otomo revealed that he is working on a new anime feature.

Unused Live-Action Akira Concept Art Revealed

Movie/comic artist Rodolfo Dimaggio (Iron Man, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull) posted concept art for Hollywood's attempt of a live-action Akira movie, which is sadly shelved... for now.


His concept art features shots of Neo Manhattan's landscape, its roads and buildings, Kaneda's bike (a Ducati Demolitore), an adult Kaneda and of course, Tetsuo.
