Kamen Rider Wizard 53 – A Neverending Story

It's the official final episode of Kamen Rider Wizard and after running for more than year, they ended it with one two-part crossover! In this conclusion, the new Rider arrives, Decade makes his return and we learned Amadam's real plan! Can our heroes stop Amadam?!

This is surprisingly a good crossover episode. The first half of the episode is basically the plot while the second half is pure Rider battle mayhem. For the first half, I am kinda disappointed that Gaim didn't stay long and that after he is done fighting the monsters, he returned to his world. As for the kids, they are kidnapped by Amadam and later rescued by the Riders thanks to how Haruto used his Rings and Kousuke's Beast Rings. It's been a while since Haruto used those rings. To track the kids, Amadam summons Decade, which will later lead to Haruto and Tsukasa's first meeting.

Back to Haruto, they expanded what will happen to the kids once they become monsters. Even though becoming a monster sounds cool at first, the revelation that they will lose their sense of right and wrong is terrifying. Now it makes sense why they want to leave this world. After this short explanation, Decade arrives and we finally see the first meeting between the two. The scene is really great and I just love how they kinda compared notes on what's worth fighting for. My only problem with it is this, if Decade is a Rider Ring summon, does this mean that the Decade we have in this scene is created by Amadam and not Decade?

Anyway, back to Kousuke, he infiltrates Amadam's base and we learned his plan to open the portal so that the monsters will invade our world as part of his revenge plot, which doesn't make any sense to me at least. I mean, he is now the ruler of his own world and if I will base it on how campy he acted in the previous episode, he is satisfied with it. But hey, the way he revealed his true plan reminded us what Kamen Riders are, failed monsters who used their plans for good. What's great about this speech is that it reminded me as a fan on why I love this show at the first place. It's not about the flashy moves or the fights, but it's about the story of a man who used his powers that he acquired from evil and uses it to something that is good.

Kousuke fights the monsters, only to be defeated at the end and return to our world. What's interesting about this scene are the monsters he faced. He faced the Orphenoch King for crying out loud, who happens to be the final boss of the Kamen Rider 555 TV series! It's weird seeing a powerful foe getting demoted into the grunt monster position in this special. I got to admit, I hated the guy because all the build up for him was wasted in just a few episodes but the Orphenoch King deserved something better.

Later, Tsukasa abducts AU Haruto along with Haruto and brought them to Amadam. This is when we learned something important about the summoned Riders in this world and why the heck Decade reverted back to Tsukasa in his first official meeting with Haruto. And it turns out that the Rider Rings summon the actual Riders in this world and that they are doing their own actions. Now it makes sense why Ryuki asked Haruto and co. to help the kids! Now that all the Riders are assembled and that we have Tsukasa's epic pre-battle speech, it's time for an all out brawl.

Seeing 14 Riders fight monsters is one great sight to see. Aside from the interesting pairings they made on which Rider will ally to which Rider, I just love how they use their gimmicks in the fights. My only problem about it is that we have OOO Putotyra instead of OOO Tajadol. In Movie Wars MEGA MAX, we learned that OOO got all his Medals less the OOO Putotyra ones, then it hit me, this scene is just made for the sake of fan service. Then I start appreciating the fact that OOO Putotyra is flying alongside with Wizard All Dragon, two forms that kinda looked like dinosaurs together in one scene.

Even with 14 Riders together, they still can't beat Amadam as he has the ability to absorb powers. At the end, only Wizard is left standing. After the two exchange speeches about the use of power and that Riders are basically incomplete monsters, AU Haruto suddenly becomes inspired and decided that if he becomes a monster, he will become a Kamen Rider and use his newfound monster powers for good. Though the episode started to sound like a broken record at this point, it's a wonderful lesson about how we should use the powers that we are given and more importantly, use these powers for the greater good.

With this new hope, AU Haruto calls forth Gaim who then accepts the Kamen Rider title, helps our heroes have their powers back and see all 14 Riders in their final forms. One thing that bugged me about it is that they went with Kuuga Rising Ultimate instead of Kuuga Ultimate, but hey, if this is Godai we are talking about in this suit, I guess he will go Rising Ultimate considering that Amadam evolves once the user is exposed to high amounts of electric shock and that it's more than a decade since the last time the belt's stone was damaged.

With all 15 Riders together, they finally defeated Amadam and returned to their worlds. Now that this world is safe, the Rider Rings disappear but in case this world needs saving, Haruto decided to give his Infinity Ring to his AU counterpart. It's a nice scene and the fact that we the viewers who haven't figure out that the kid is AU Haruto gives this impression that it's a hero trusting a child that he can make the right choice once the planet needs saving. What's great is that the ones in this AU world don't know Haruto's name, it's a nice contrast between the two Harutos and I like it. At the end, Haruto leaves this world, AU Koyomi is alive and the mystery of Koyomi's ghost appearing in this world remains unsolved. But what the heck, it's time for Gaim!
