Come on, Ankydon!
Ankydon is under the control of Debo Virsun, a creature that Ramirez and Ankydon fought years ago, which they thought they defeated! To make matters worse for Ramirez, his spirit power is slowly disappearing, and the one who first noticed it is Amy.
The reason why Ramirez can't transform in the previous episode was explained in this episode. As it turns out, his power as a Kyoryuger was locked by the Debo Virsun, who is inside Ankydon's Beast Battery. Even if that is the case, the flashback scene gave us a general idea how Ramirez fights as a Kyoryuger, he is more of a commanding type, and we don't see if he uses a weapon in battle. He just orders Ankydon to fight Debo Virsun in a really cool manner. It also showed us that it is only him and Ankydon fighting Deboss during his time, and thus, our heroes decide to look for Ankydon.
The Kyoryuger's search for Ankydon is not the main highlight in this episode, as it is more like how can Ramirez stay in our world longer thanks to his spirit power becoming weak. This is when Amy comes in as she is the only person who overheard the conversation between Ramirez and Torin. Amy's scenes with Ramirez are well done, and it feels like I am seeing a friend help another friend, not a young warrior help her senior. You can see Amy's enthusiasm in helping Ramirez, that at the end, Ramirez admitted that he will be head over heels for Amy if he is alive today.
Candelira and Luckiero are still in this episode as Candelira's singing increased Debo Virsun's power. As for Candelira's song, it's really creepy for some reason, I mean, the song sounds so joyful but it is about destruction and extinction... and this is a kid's show! Who in the right mind will sing a joyful song about destruction in a kid's show?! Oh well, at least the song is quite entertaining and I kinda like the tune. The song's effect of making people sleep eternally and have them dream happy thoughts is one scary side effect. Thankfully, the Kyoryugers are not affected by it thanks to their suits.
Because the song is powering Debo Virsun, Amy and Ramirez now have the idea on the possible whereabouts of Ankydon! The two tried to find the source of Candelira's song, only to be attacked by Aigaron and Dogold. Thankfully, the other Kyoryugers arrived just in time to fight them. When the two arrived, it is time for Ramirez to call out his partner. The scene showed us how close the two are, and thankfully, Ankydon heed Ramirez's call. Pink then head towards Ankydon's mouth so that she can stop it. One thing I noticed in this scene is the amazing bike action featuring Pink. Seriously, this show has amazing bike work that it beat the current Kamen Rider show in that department!
The only problem left is how she can enter Ankydon's Beast Batttery. This is when we see more of the Guardians Beast Batteries in action. The writer of this show knows how to use its arsenal of Beast Batteries quite well. Inside the Battery, we meet the real Debo Virsun and as expected, beat Pink easily. Powerless against the stronger Debo Virsun, she wonders what Ramirez will do in this situation while staring at his weakened Kyoryuger form trapped inside the Beast Battery. This is when she used the Stymero Beast Battery, whose ability is to make someone fall head over heels over someone! With that in mind, I didn't expect that they will have a Beast Battery with that function!
So yeah, Debo Virsun fells head over heels for Amy that all of sudden, he is not anymore threatening as he sounds more like a pervert rather than a scary monster. Because Stymero's effects, I will not be surprised if they will have a filler episode or a special DVD featuring the use of all crazy, ridiculous Beast Batteries. Back to the actual episode, I just love how Pink uses this to their advantage in battle. It is so scary that it reminded me that this chick defeated a robot dinosaur off-screen.
After Pink defeated Debo Virsun, it is time for the giant battle! To repay the kindness of his fellow teammates, Ramirez transforms into KyoryuCyan to help them in battle! His transformation sequence is really cool. Aside from the immediate weight lost and the use of the Ankydon Beast Battery, the simplicity of his transformation sequence as KyoryuCyan sets his apart from the rest of the Kyoryugers. We also saw one of his moves, the Spirit Hammer, which is basically a giant projection of Ankydon's hammer. With that limited move set, hopefully, they can expand on it in later episodes that will feature his appearance.
Now that we are done with Cyan, it is time to see Ankydon in action as part of Kyoryuzin! The Kyoryuzin Macho formation looks fine I guess. If there is one thing that is disappointing about it is that we don't see Cyan inside the Kyoryuzin's cockpit. I know, he is a spirit and all, but can we have at least one scene where he is with the other five Kyoryugers fighting Debo Virsun even just once? As for Kyoryuzin Macho's moves, the way Kyoryuzin flings the hammer feels kinda unnatural to be honest. If the hammer is a bit shorter, then I might like this formation a bit more. As for the finisher, it is better than the first three formation finishers.
At the end, Ramirez needs to leave because he will search for the other 4 Voltasaurs as a spirit. Ramirez's departure is kinda disappointing. For the two episodes he is in, I seriously like him as a character and I wish he will interact with the Kyoryugers a bit more. Hopefully, he will be back in some episodes... if the show's toy catalog is an indication. Speaking of one of the Voltasaurs, by the looks of it, Chaos has one Beast Battery in his hands. This Battery is #6 Pteragordon, a member of the 10 Great Voltasaurs.
