With all 4 wizards assembled, it's time to perform the Sabbat ceremony so that Fueki can fully revive her daughter, Koyomi. Even if this is a "noble" cause, it kills almost everyone in Tokyo. Can Kousuke stop this ceremony before it's too late?
The Sabbat ceremony, to put it simply is basically like how you can create a Philosopher's Stone in Fullmetal Alchemist less the bloodshed. Instead of blood, it is replaced with humans cracking up till they turn into dust or transform into a Phantom. If I will compare this ceremony to the one from FMA, the consequences to those humans involved are scarier. Will you die human or live long enough to see yourself transform into a monster or cling on to hope and become a wizard? This kind of idea is really great and it's one of those things in this show that they properly executed.
More on the ceremony, Fueki revealed why he needs to perform another Sabbat. The first one succeeded in reviving Koyomi's body, but failed in fully resurrecting her. But what bothered me the most are the human sacrifices, according to Fueki; he gathered all Gates into area and has four Phantoms as the pillars for the first Sabbat. What bothered me about it is the fact that Fueki admitted in the one episode that he needs Medusa to look for the Gates. If that's the case, then how the heck he was able to gather Gates for the ceremony?
Also, how the heck he found four Phantoms for this ceremony? The previous episode revealed that he artificially created the Carbuncle Phantom so that he can transform into a wizard. Keeping that thing in mind and assuming that there are no Phantoms existing prior to the first Sabbat, did he artificially created four Phantoms just for this ceremony? This is one of the things the show didn't explain properly, how Fueki gathered the Gates in one place. To make matters worse, for the past 48 episodes, we didn't have a flashback scene featuring how Haruto ended up in the Sabbat ceremony! I mean, no one asked Haruto even just once how he ended up getting involved in this ceremony!
As what the episode properly revealed, the reason why Fueki is doing this ceremony is to revive her dead daughter and he is willing to sacrifice everyone in Tokyo just to do it. This revelation tells us two things, first he is one loving father that he will do everything for her daughter and two, his love made him so crazy that he is willing to kill everyone just to revive one person. Seriously, he needs to move on and just cherish Koyomi's memory like that guy in the toy plane story arc did. It worked out too well and it's one of my favorite story arcs in the show.
Because Haruto can't fight, it's Kousuke's time to shine. Beast's fight in this episode is really amazing. His fight against the White Wizard is really intense. The sparks flying out of their bodies made a lot of impact because of the time they filmed it. They filmed the fight scene at night. But that's not what makes this fight scene awesome, the way it ended is the reason why it is awesome. Before Beast delivered his finishing blow, he made a pact with the Beast Chimera that he will free the guy so that he can eat all the mana flowing outside. What made it great is that Kousuke is aware of the consequences, but he doesn't care, he wants to save the world!
His sacrificed pay off and released Beast Chimera by piercing his belt with the White Wizard's weapon. That scene is seriously fantastic that it's best to watch it. Seeing the Beast Chimera just chomping every piece of mana he can find is one really cool scene. Now that he is powerless in front of the White Wizard, it's time for the White Wizard to deliver the final blow. But never fear Haruto is here and thus, ending the episode. Well this episode is quite intense but it ended in a whimper. Oh well.
