To shake or not to shake a human hand?
A new threat in a form of creatures living in toxic waste appeared in our planet, and Vrak was ordered by Admiral Malkor to make allies with these creatures. With this new alliance, can the Power Rangers stop them? Also, who is this mysterious Robo Knight?
If there is one thing that surprised me about this episode is the use of their stock footage, and how they managed that there are two enemy factions running around. To those who are not aware, in Goseiger, the Warstar was defeated by the heroes then after that, a new enemy called UMA Beasts appeared. In the case of this show, they just edited the screen of the ship and reuse some of the old footage they have to give us an impression that two enemy factions are running around. Lucky enough, their mouths of the monster suits are not moving properly, so they can just mask up the stock footage with some new dubbed recording. It's cheap and one practical method to save money for something bigger next season.
As for the new enemy factions, the creatures who are living in toxic waste, their aim is basically to pollute the Earth so that they can inhabit it. What's funny is that they are mutants created by the toxic waste humans left even though they look like those mysterious creatures that people spotted for generations! I mean the mutants from Time Force looks more convincing as mutants compared to these creatures!
My biggest disappointment about their debut here is that Malkor sees them as potential threats, to humans. Makes sense since they look scary, but what's disappointing about it is that we don't see them attack nameless civilians! Cool, they were able to overpower the Rangers in this episode, but where are the screaming civilians? How can you convince me that these mutants are a threat if they only attack the Rangers? Maybe the Rangers just thought that they are the bad guys because they look scary, and that they are attacking out of self-defense, and misunderstanding since Vrak said that the Rangers are evil.
With the Rangers powerless against the new enemies, here comes Robo Knight, a knight whose job is to protect the Earth's environment. Since the mutants are result of toxic waste, he immediately attacks them. Will talk more about his move sets and his weapons once I will review the Goseiger episode where this episode is based upon. The only thing I can comment about Robo Knight is his voice. I love his commanding robotic voice, he sounds like RoboCop and I like it. The only problem I have with it is the way his voice actor say his lines, it feels so monotonous and stiff that it made Tensou more likable... and I hate that guy!
He also has an alternate form as the Lion Zord where he can combine to some truck to form the Lion Mechazord. He eliminated the threat and reverts back to his Ranger mode. Because he is a new ally, Troy wants to befriend him, only to get rejected by it. Now comes the fun part in this episode, the Rangers return to the base angry and wants some answers coming from Gosei on why are not informed about Robo Knight. To sum it up, Gosei created Robo Knight, and this robot was dormant for centuries until now. To cut long story short, our heroes must convince Robo Knight that they are the good guys because Gosei can't fixed his complicated circuits. Wait just a darn minute, you made Robo Knight but you can't fix his circuits?! What the heck man!
