Aaaand Magical Girl Beast.
To prove that he is worthy to be trusted, Sora helps Medusa as the Gremlin Phantom. But this is not this episode is all about; Kousuke's grandma has arrived in the city and wants her grandson to return home!
What way to start the episode is the confrontation between Medusa and Sora, and to be honest, I am starting to wonder what Sora's plan is and why the heck he helped Wizard a couple of occasions. After this, we learned that Rinko is quite competent with her job as a cop! Guess we will see more of her competency in later episodes. But the thing about Rinko is not this episode is all about because she is barely seen in this episode. It is about Kousuke meeting his grandma after many years of not seeing her.
What's funny is that the meeting began with Rinko fooling Kousuke into dating him! Kousuke's meeting his grandma is kinda fun to watch, and that unlike most superheroes who don't want their relatives to know their secret identities because they don't want them to get involved. In Kousuke's case, he doesn't want his grandma to know his secret superhero life because... he will get scolded. Wow, that is one lame reason to hide your secret identity to your grandma. With that alone, it means that it's fine for Kousuke to reveal his secret identity in the public, just as long as her grandma is not around!
The meeting ends with Kousuke running away from his grandma and Shunpei has no choice but to stay on Kousuke's grandma side while Rinko and Haruto are chasing Kousuke! For some reason, I am starting to like Shunpei more even though he is quite annoying in the earlier episodes, the fact that he tried to protect Kousuke's grandma from the Phantom while waiting for Haruto and Kousuke to arrive is kinda something. What's more, he tried hitting the Phantom, only for the attack to fail thanks to the Phantom's strength.
Haruto and Kousuke arrive and when Kousuke tries to transform, he can't help but run away just to evade the glances of her grandma! Even with all the upgrades Haruto had in this series, he starts with his default form and didn't went straight to any of his Dragon forms. For some reason, I am a bit annoyed with it and I like it for a bit. Annoyed because the guy has like, upgrades being placed in front of his nose and didn't use any of it, I like it because he is basically checking how strong is his opponent by using his most balanced and default form.
But because Haruto is not enough to defeat the Phantom, Kousuke transforms into Kamen Rider Beast. But because his grandma is watching, he has no choice but to pretend to be a different person. And so, he becomes the Magical Girl Beast! Beast's portrayal of a magical girl is... kinda accurate. The sparkles also made the scene look more believable in a sense that he is pretending to be a magical girl. Also, his, I mean, her fight style as a magical girl is more accurate fencing and less brash slashes like what he regularly does. Did I mention that they gave Beast an ass shot in one scene?
Because two wizards are hard to handle, the Phantom leaves and guess who is watching the fight, Sora and he finally figured out how he can be helpful in this one. Back in the antique shop, Kousuke tries his best to hide his true identity in front of her grandma, and as expected, Kousuke's grandma is annoyed by it because of what he is doing. Later, we learned why Kousuke is afraid of her grandma. The flashback scene basically established that he is rich, he is adventurous and lastly, her grandma hates his adventurous side. To be honest, it makes sense, especially if he is the only child. Every grandma doesn't want to see their grandchild to get hurt! But in her case, she is so overprotective that it hurts.
The next day, Kousuke's grandma is leaving the city and Kousuke is there to watch her from behind while Haruto and Shunpei are the ones who are in her side. Much to Haruto's surprise, the bus driver just closed the door and starts chasing the bus! As it turns out, the Phantom is the driver of the bus! But never fear, Kousuke is here to protect his grandma, and he basically blew up his cover. So yeah, save the scolding for later and he transforms into Kamen Rider Beast. Wizard then arrives just in time to stop the bus.
Now that the two wizards are here, it is time for battle! The fights in this scene are impressive but that's not what's interesting. What's interesting is Beast and Wizard switching rings by accident! Much to Beast's surprise, he can't use Wizard's rings but as for Wizard, he can use Beast's rings, allowing him to gain some cool new abilities. In this case, his body becomes liquid once he scans the Dolphi Ring. In a story and merchandising perspective, it makes sense because Beast is an ancient wizard and Wizard is a new wizard, so basically the guy has backwards compatibility when it comes to rings.
After realizing that Phantoms and her grandson are related, she volunteers to be put into despair. To be honest, it doesn't make sense for now. Hopefully, they can explain it in a later episode. Because Kousuke's grandma is sacrificing herself, Shunpei tries to protect her, only to get hit by the Phantom. This is when Sora comes in and makes his bargain. He kidnaps Shunpei and asks them to make a choice, to save Shunpei by giving Kousuke's grandma or let Shunpei die. What choice they will make. Save Shunpei or sacrifice Kousuke's grandma?
