Kyoryuu Sentai Zyuranger 39 – A Monster's Tears

The underground beat Goda can to the surface world thanks to a quake but people thought that he is attacking humans for no purpose. Because of the said appearance, Bandora will use Gora to her nefarious schemes. Can the Zyurangers stop Bandora?

This is one of those Super Sentai episodes that involve a monster that is on the neutral side and that depending on what will transpire in the episode will determine what side the monster will end up in. Considering that I enjoyed the Dondon and Djinn episodes, I have some high hope that this episode is really good and I am right. Granted, it ended in something that I didn't expect I just love that it is the ending we have.

Even though Gora looks really terrifying, as it turns out that deep down inside, the creature is just a mother who is just really concerned about his children. As seen in this episode, she saved the kid who is stuck in a ruble; the only time she attacks is if someone provokes her to attack. This is something that Bukbak and Tottopat did; they accidentally provoke Gora by eating her eggs that they are not aware that it is her eggs! When Gora find out that her eggs are eaten, instead of the two getting killed by Gora, Grifforzer use this to his own advantage by putting the blame on the destroyed eggs to the Zyurangers. It is one great move; what's more, it's easier for them to earn Gora's trust.

With that, Gora starts attacking the Zyurangers and she overpowered our heroes, something that I am not surprised about. But after learning that she did it because two dunderheads ate her eggs, they started to think of a way on how they can stop Gora. The kid's suggestion of showing Gora an egg that he got from the ruble he was in is one good idea since it will give Gora hope that her race will still continue. Before they can give Gora's eggs to her, Bandora already approached her with a really good proposition.

Bandora's proposition to restore her eggs is really wise, the problem with her proposition is that I am doubtful if the contents of the eggs are still intact after she fixes it but considering that she is a wish and that she will do everything in her power to have Gora on her size, my hunch is that the contents of the eggs will not be restored. In short, Gora making an agreement with Bandora is just a trap to have her on Bandora's side by selling her soul to her. Just like every mother who is will do everything just for her kids, she decided to sell her soul to Bandora and became one of her minions.

This is when the story becomes complicated; the Zyurangers try their best to bring Gora back to her senses only to fail at the end. Because of Gora's rampage, she destroyed a truck that is just passing by and almost stepped one of her eggs that is kid is holding but thanks to Burai, the kid is safe. Burai's appearance also complicates matters since he is trying to teach Geki not to hesitate to kill Gora for the sake of everyone's safety. During that time Burai is making that speech, I suddenly remembered the time Burai is still fighting Geki and DaiZyuJin ordered Geki to kill his own brother. If there is one thing to note about this scene is that Burai doesn't sound like a jerk when he asked Geki to kill Gora.

The only difference with that situation to the current situation is that Burai is just carrying out the revenge his father entrusted him to do and to top it all off; he just joined Bandora's side just for her resources. In this situation, Gora sold her soul to Bandora, giving her lesser chance to revert back to normal. To put it simply, Burai has a clear mind while he is attacking Geki while Gora's mind is a bit muddled thanks to Bandora's spell that she almost stepped one of her eggs. One thing to point out with Burai's speech is that it sounds like he is giving his brother an advice just in case he gets into a tough situation and that his brother is dead before to help him with his current situation.

After Burai told him to remember the lesson DaiZyuJin thought them a few episodes back, Geki decides to defeat Gora who is about to attack the dam because of Bandora's orders. As for Burai, he summons the Dragon Caesar to help his comrades. They defeated Gora thanks to the GouRyuJin and for her memorial, they made a small grave for her and the Zyurangers entrusted Gora's last egg to the boy who first saw it. The last scene is quite touching and it just wraps up the episode neatly, if there is one life that left in this world, one life will replace it and that is in the form of Gora's egg.
